Building DJ'S Location,Location, Location Your location is almost critical because if you have an awesome place where it is flat and has water nearby and no run in it is like a chick in a gay bar, POINTLESS. My tip is get a map or better use Google Earth to sus out a good place to build....
Hi All, Thanks to everyone who’s shown interest in becoming a part of a volunteer track work team for Royal NP. I’ve done some assessment of the track and noted the areas that need the most attention, mostly fixing up some drainage and erosion issues. Thanks to Ben and Elliot for already...
I posted this in another thread and didn't get any answers, I think maybe the title didn't attract the people that may have had answers. Mods, feel free to delete if you fell it should be. So me and some guys from our area are keen to get some dirt jumps going. The are we have picked is the...
Seeing as there are alot of questions about how to make downhill tracks, I figured I should give some advice to up and comers thinking of going and building a track. Before even starting work on the trail you should. 1/ DO NOT make the track obvious as to where it is. I've seen people just...
OK, probably like you I got into this whole Advocacy and trail building stuff to make a better place for the bruddas (and sisters) to ride. It seemed like the council was blind, the answers were so obvious. But where to start? I started asking questions, as my knowledge base grew I started to...
Looks like everyone gets a say http://wiki.nswmtb.asn.au/images/6/69/Tourism_and_National_Parks_in_NSW_Invitation_for_Public_Submissions_Letter_June_08.pdf "Some rather exciting news that could mean better access to NSW National Parks may be forthcoming in the future. The NSW Government's...
OK, Despite this being the area for LEGAL trail building there has been a heap of illegal trails being posted. Unless you have spoken to the owner of the land (friend, family or foe) and have permission, it is essentially illegal. There is no such thing as UNUSED land in Australia. Someone owns...
OK, here at Farkin we’ve been lucky enough for the boys at Revolution to allow us to reproduce their “how to build dirt jumps article” that was in issue 05 December 2006 (yes the one with the Farkin stikas…) So props to Holmes and crew, check their mag out as a lot of work goes into making a high...
OK, so your local council is looking at you like a three headed monster, this talk of legal Mountain Bike Trails. Surely no one has done it in Australia? Or have they? Here are some links, hopefully for you or your council to use. I'll keep it closed to keep it tidy, pls PM me if you have any...
This is the definative resource for Trail building. If your serious about building a trail, this is essential reading. IMBA's "Trail Solutions, IMBA Guide to building sweet singletrack" 272 pages, with lots of diagrams, Freeriding (northshore) included. If you really get into the Zen of...
Ok everyone, here are some simple guidlines to this thread for it to work. post up changes to tracks eg. a jump being built bigger or extended back tell us all of trail hazards in through detail, not just "Oh yeah, ya know that jump, next to that tree with the corner before it?" We all need...
For all you Glenrock riders out there, you may have noticed a bit of official trail building going on from the guys at World Trail. For those that haven't, the DJ quarries are undergoing a transformation, the old DJ's on the cliff edge are gone and a new set away from the cliff are under...
Hey guys i was thinking about building a dirt halfpipe. Do you think it would be any good made from dirt? I would rent a mini digger and a compacter to help me make it. i would level the ground and make it pretty big so what do you think?
Queanbeyan Council have been hard at work developing concept designs for a new dedicated Dirt Jump and Pump Track facility. The design looks to have the potential for some future XC trails to be added on. The trails feature areas of varying skill and difficulty ensuring that everyone will have...
Ok i have been building trails on private property at central mangrove, 1 hour north of sydney for a while now and we are about to scale up our efforts and the use of a bobcat would help alot. Our plan is to build a slopesyle course, small dh runs, dual slalom race track, pumptrack, add to the...
Hey does anybody know who is responsible for the trail building at Lysterfield Park? Im curious to the planning and instruction given to such building in reference to the dig done at the far end of trail 02 yesterday morning? If your out that way, check it out?
Just found this on pedalbite.com. A post by user frozenhole.com. I thought I'd post it here to help it get some exposure I just found this article on the ABC news website: http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2010/08/24/2992188.htm So I headed over to the Wellington Park website and found...
See other thread here Sorry
My idea is to build a mobile, height adjustable ramp that can also be changed into a seesaw. It will be in 2 pieces (pivot and ramp), and it can easily be thrown in the back of a ute or onto a trailer. Anyone made this kind of thing before? Just wondering if there are some key problems I might...
i have built a dh track down to a mates house and it is awsome, 20-35 minuets to complete and its fast flowing and techniqal if you whant any information on it just leave a mesage, thanks.
wall ride almost completed , just got to finish off the entry bay...
This thread is to discuss issues, trail work and etc for 'possums' downhill tracks. If anyone who wont's to make a new line, change and pull anything out. You can post what you wont to do and so on, on this thread. Recently someone has been making some real scummy lines and unfinished them,...
Just thought i'd post up some info about the Adelaide City Dirt Jumps given myself and Nigel (not an active member here) have been working on the for the last year and half and have finally got some council help/action. I'm sure most members have become aware of them in one way or another by now. ...
Hey guys, As you would be aware, Ku-ring-gai Council has recently put some signs up the top of the trail implying that it is an approved bike track. This is however not entirely the case. It was apparently too well built, to justify the cost of destroying it so they put the signs in as a...
Hi guys , my name is nick . and as most of you do here , I love riding a MTB. Competition isn't really my thing , but give me a trail , throw in some northshore , and some hefty jumps and I am right at home. I have the opportunity to create a very unique MTB bike park in the Shellharbour...
hey everyone. i have this new trail i have built and there is a steep chute then a flat bit then another small chute into a tight berm. i was just wondering what i could put on the flat bit to slow me down, because you hit the berm with way too much speed and nearly die every time. cheers
Track maintenance days will be held at the Gold Coast MTB Club Illinbah on Sunday 29 August and Sunday 5 September 2010. The works to be undertaken on these days include completion of the 4X track finish, drainage of 4X track, repair the berm below the Drop of Doom in bottom forest, repair the B...
For the past 18-months my riding crew have put hundreds of man hours into a DH track. We enhanced and restyled where necessary added drainage etc. etc. to a certain philosophy and standard. All riders we meet are happy and appreciative of what has been done. However, recently some...
hey guys. moved to the area and i cant find any good tracks here. prepared to toil in the sun breaking my back if a new track needs building. just a general show of support, information etc.
The planned working bee at Illinbah this Sunday has been postponed to Sunday 29 August due to excessive rain in the past 24 hours. The tracks are too wet to work on and we would create more problems than solving the issues we currently have. Keep an eye out on this forum for further information.:)
