    Default Fox 36 Float Review

    Fox 36 Float Review
Would a light weight, long travel single crown fork be suitable for your downhill bike? Scott checks out possibly the worlds lightest downhill fork to see if its all that we want it to be.

    Check it out here.

EDIT: Cheers, great read. I'm running the new 08 36vanRC2's and they are a great fork.. I have found a new level of plushness that i have never experienced before. Yeah the head tube is a tank

Great review scott. Surprisingly the V10 doesn't look that much different with the shorter forks.

Shouldn't you be reviewing dining sets and curtains these days?

    Hey Scott,

How did the bike feel with only 6" travel at the front and 10" at the back? Was there any feeling of it being a bit unbalanced?

What's your take on using 6" travel bikes for DH?

want to get these forks on a bottlerocket frame..
i reckon that would be ultimate all round rig,
    light dh+freeride+dj= Bottlerocket.

Not as bad as you'd think, it certainly doesn't feel like I haven way more on the front than back. The main difference is the v10 runs heaps of sag, whereas the fork didn't sag as much (how I had them setup anyway). Of course the v10 is not the ideal match up for the 6inch fork, but I certainly wasn't complaining. A better match would be anywhere from 6-8 inches of rear travel.

6 inch forks for DH are fine in most situations. Like I said in my review, there is still that 20-25% of the time where you will actually be better off with a 8 inch dual crown fork. My rule of thumb is this..... if I had to have one all around bike for dh and a bit of trail riding this would certainly be my fork of choice. Owning 2 bikes (DH & 4x) is a different story, I'll stick with a long front and rear travel downhill bike and short travel lighweight hardtail for 4x. It really comes down to your situation and what you're after.
