New Titanium frame - Ti project

This thread is reserved for my Ti build project.

I sent a message through to an overseas Ti frame seller on eBay about making a custom Ti frame without decals under the clear coat. He said it was possible but it was going to cost me over $700. I left it at that until I saw this frame on eBay with no decals and a $630 buy it now price. I checked the eBay listing out daily for bids, nobody wanted it. Last minute, on the couch, internet on laptop, beer fogging my brain and I hit the place bid button and presto here she is.

The temptation to make start a real weight weenie project is extreme. The temptation to just move all the parts over from my single speed project is also there. Gears, most definitely, front forks, most likely. Just so not sure.

One thing though, the frame is RAW. It has no clear coat on it at all. It even feels powdery, almost rusty. Any ideas on this? Can I clear coat it myself?! Suggestions more than welcome.

Thinking about it is doing my head in, so for now, she's on the wall as art.

    Some pics:

    She's a waif.

    Nice welds.

Disc brakes only. That rules out ridiculously light KCNC V-Brakes. Probably a good thing.

    Standard 27.2.

    Neat and raw.

I think don't clear coat it. Why would you ad the weight and awful look of clear coat to a stealth ti frame. It will not corrode or ever really change,it may dull down a bit.
Nice score, look forward to seeing it built.

Awesome. I really would hate to HAVE to clear coat it. I just needed to know whether it will corrode, or die in the ass. Good to know that it won't!
