Pokoj 4th at Qashqai Milan - PHOTOS

    Quashqai 2
    1. 553 Trond Hansen
    2. 539 Mischa Breitenstein
    3. 538 Sam Pilgrim
    4. 535 Darren Pokoj
    5. 520 Kurtis Sorge
    6. 511 Adam Hauck
    7. 503 Damian Siriski
    8. 489 Geoff Gulevich

Darren clawed his way back from 12th in first qualifying round to 8th and then 4th.

Lance McDermott couldn't put together a clean run. No Berrecloth, no Lacondeguys, no Basagoitia, and only Tyler McCaul (Cam's brother).

Started out with 40 competitors on Friday. Only one qualifying run to select the top 15. Second qualifier on Saturday cut a further 3 with finals in the evening consisting of 3 runs - two high scores counting. The course was pretty straightforward - 4 big jumps with a small roller before the third. Dissapointingly the whole course was made from beach sand! ... Just not the best conditions to throw down really good runs.

Darren is feeling fit and injury free with only a bit of clicking and weakness in his healed wrist. He seems to like the new Felt with its steeper geo than the Intense. Pics to follow.

Pokoj is the man, he's such a great rider, pulls THE best 3's and is Aussie. What more could you want? Shame he isn't as known as some of the other riders though, despite being better

Edit: And i so want to see his new Felt, wonder how it compares to the Intense prototype he was running last season?

Actually I went for a meeting but managed to sneak out to watch Qashqai. Had a chat with Darren about his bike. The guy that came through first in qualifiers was riding an NS Suburban (Martin Soderstrom from Sweden).

Some of the other better riders were Phil Sundbaum, Mitchell Chubey, Alex Reveles, Marius Hoppensackm, Benny Korthaus, Amir Kabbani.

Nice pics, but I just can't get over how, just how bland Pokoj's new ride is. Sure, he's sponsored, but can't he put that to good use? e.g the seat / post, frame colour and overall appearance - almost ghetto-ish. But then again, maybe it doesn't worry him.....

Congrats on 4th, stick it to the man!
