Depends on what kind of riding you are going to do...

All mountain with a little of DH then go the "Norco 6"

    BUT

If your riding DH with a little of All Mountain then the "A-Line".

    Thanks man,

I will probably start off with a bit of XC but eventually I want to get into DH if I can... Its been a few years since I've done anything too serious though

I'm leaning towards the A-Line I reckon for future investment, good decision?

The Norco 6 will be the easier bike to ride, and when you get into downhill, can have triple clamps put on them if you really need to.
The forks on the six look more like Marzocchi 66s rather than rock shox boxxers...
    In fact, they are 66s
Why do elephants pain their balls red? To hide in cherry trees.
Now what is the loudest sound in the jungle? A giraffe eating cherries.

Depends, the 66's (or whatever the ones in the picture are) could have just been on when the picture was taken and it actually has boxxers, ask him.

Go the 6 if you are going to be doing light stuff + a bit of rougher stuff.

I have one (07 six 1) and love it. Get some different tyres, Minion DHF's are v good for DH but a bit heavy for XC stuff. If you put a 2.3 single ply or so on the front and a 2.1 up the back it should lighten it up by at least a kilo and a half.

Looks like 66's up front but may be an old photo. You can get a lower fork if you like for it to steepen it up for XC, the stock forks adjust from 120 to 160.

Aline will be overkill for XC and you will get very tired of it very quickly. Mind you if you go to Thredbo and do some chairlift runs down the DH it will be a different story

Thanks for all your help guys, will have a think about it. I guess the Norco Six is the option for now as I probably wont get into heavy DH too soon... then again it's always possible

I have a 2008 A-line and love it for DH. Suits me perfectly.
However it is a dog to ride anywhere but downhill. Seriously even gently undulating fire trails are a hassle. If I need to ride XC or even doing some riding pushies I usually ride my Hardtail (which is not good for DH ).
