Brisbane City Council is investigating the best ways to manage outdoor recreation in our city's natural bushland areas.

As a part of this review, Council would like to explore the possibility of opening up trails in some Council managed bushland areas for mountain bike access. At present, mountain bike riding in Council managed bushland is only permitted on designated trails within Mt Coot-tha Forest.

Environment Parks and Sustainability Committee Chair Peter Matic said
"Community feedback will play a vital role in developing a balanced approach to the management of recreational activities in select bushland areas.

This community consultation reaffirms that Council is committed to protecting the city's bushland for the people of Brisbane.

The key is to ensure we are able to provide adequate facilities safely and sustainably in order to protect and conserve our natural bushland."
