To support the Belair Master Trail Plan
Stand up and be counted – or lose trail access forever.
If you do one thing for trail advocacy this year make it this.
Aim: To assemble 200 cyclists to show support for the Belair Master Trail Plan (roadies welcome)
When: Sunday 2nd of August 2009
Where:
Start 1 @ The Edinburgh Hotel car park @ 11am
Start 2 @ Belair Train Station Park Entrance on Sheoak Rd (the bridge) @ 12pm (refer map on pdf).
Why is it important?
There is between 7,000 and 9,000 kms of walking trails on DEH land in SA. About 50kms of shared use
trails (arguably of which little provides a genuine MTB experience), 0 kms of cycling only trails.
DEH has a policy to provide cycling trails within its reserves, and that is what they are trying to achieve
in a small first step with the Belair Master Trail Plan allowing bike access to a few previously “walking
only” trails in the park. This is a new and excellent initiative.
Yet there is still great resistance from some of the non MTB community to allow this to proceed.
It’s time to Stand up and be counted…..
Oh and don't forget to support the Trail plan (closes 14th of August) by emailing gardner.kain@saugov.sa.gov.au
