A little while ago I decided I needed to get a new mid-travel bike. I was riding some new trails and a couple of old favourites that required something a little more forgiving than the 4x slope machine, but made the freerider feel like a pig. I lurked and prowled and haggled, but the search continued without gaining raging bike boners. Then it happened! CRC decided to clear out some stock that I liked...

NS Snabb Enduro.

Would it be up to the task ahead? That being to blend whippet like agility with bull mastiff strength...time will tell. The bike will be built up using a pile of spare 26 inch parts from around the house and some new drive gear, thus the name.

I will also be using my first dropper...strange days have found us!

The spec revealed

Frame: 2015 NS Snabb E

Headset: TBA - purchased 2 different headsets, then free came with one!
Fork: TBA (currently considering a Rockshox totem air or Marzocchi 55CR)
Stem: Spank spoon 45mm
Bars: Funn Full on 750mm, 15mm rise
Grips: DMR lock on (I have a lot of these on hand thanks to a Pushys sale!)
Brakes: Shimano XT
Shifter: Shimano Saint (first shimano drive train in a very long time)
Rear mech: Shimano Zee
Chain guide: Shimano Saint
Crank: Shimano Zee
Chain ring: FSA 34t (smallest I have had in many years!)
Pedals: fire eye hot candy pedals
Chain: Shimano XT
Cassette: Shimano Tiagra 11-34t (I needed to cut costs somewhere)
Front wheel: DT Swiss fr600 on DT Swiss 340 hub (old faithful itself!)
Rear wheel: Mavic ex729 on Da Bomb Rotate hub
Tyres: DMR Moto Digger
Seat post: some kind of dropper.
Seat post clamp: can decide...i have 3 suitable.
Seat: Cube RFR (it was on sale and looked about right...)

I expect the bike will be fairly sweet. If it turns out I don't like pedalling I'll turn it into a huck machine...

26 inch parts until I run out of spares and can't buy them anymore!

There's a lot old school about this build for me.... Marzocchi, 26 inch!, road cassette (just need the road mech to go with it) and that's about it....

Nice frame too, I like the color scheme. 4 inch ish travel? Looking forward to seeing the complete build too.

Old school? Why I ought ta give you a paddling! Funnily enough the road cassette has the biggest number of teeth I've used in about a decade. I never tried a road mech, was worried they wouldn't be up to the task of flogging through a rock garden or bouncing along a DH track. If there is one compatible with the Saint shifter I'll consider giving it a run when the zee packs it in. The frame has about 160mm of travel and is kind of fire engine red. I toned it down for the internet because the original image was blinding.

I too am keen to see it built, I've just been very lazy about it. Box life...shame on me.

I thought this was a post your ride thread not a post your frame thread?

I like how you contrasted down the colour:spy:..........

I also snapped up the Snabb on the last CRC sale.

Do me a favour, check your pivots for the correct torque as well..

Do I need to borrow you torque wrench, or is it pretty obvious? Is yours rolling?

I've got one here too. But shoot me a pm. I may want another...
If you're not in immediate need I'll leave it a little while. I'm flat out with uni at the moment. I'm still deciding whether to run them in place of the Lyrik RCs currently on my bike.

For the gain of 200-300g, I'd take the totems over the lyrics and reap the rewards of a much stronger fork. Unless you're using the bike for epic enduro rides.

You can if you like:llama....my pivots were retardedly tight so it'll pay to check it out

I had it built then discovered the pivot thing, gone back to my Covert for now until it
breaks............because you know that's a Transition thing:whistle:

We are always transitioning. I'll take a look when I finally begin build. Perhaps the torque is meant to be epic? You know to handle all the gnar riders throw at it...

It has begun! Bottom bracket and headset installed. Chainguide is causing me grief...the Saint guide's bottom roller tucks up a bit too far and fouls against the chain stay. I think I will swap it with the guide on my pivot (black spire).

Build has begun...

Black spire Chain guide fits a treat. It took a few on-off to get a good match up between guide+frame+chain ring, but it is there now.

Will be running some internal cables by the looks of things. I think crc forgot to send me most of the bits required for external routing. The line for my rear brake will be interesting.

Headset is in thanks to my trusty piece of ply. One day I'm going to get an adapter for my press so I can do 1.5 lower cups properly.

Some questions for other NS Snabb frame owners...

This is a pic of all the bits that came with the frame; other than the axle, der hanger, 2 lengths of black tubing approx 25mm long with inside diameter that will probably allow for cables to run inside, and the steerer protector (wierd!).

mms_img76383016.jpg

1) this doesn't look like a complete set, especially items 2, 4, and 5. There is not enough of the grommets for all in/out internal holes (item 2). There is not enough clamps for external routing (item 4&5). Am I wrong? Suggestions on obtaining more?

2) what is item 6? My current guess is spacers for running different shock options.

3) i can't find anywhere to screw item 1 into the frame. Do I just drop it in the down tube for added rattle?

4) the screws at item 3 are not long enough for the clamps used of external routing. Am I doing it wrong?

Thanks in advance hell yeah for your input to my loose bits dilemma. I am thinking crc haven't included everything and I've left it far too long to hit them up about it.
