Hey man, heaps of info on rotorua in this sub forum:

https://www.rotorburn.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?209-Travel

It's the travel info section...

Personally I like to go from Auckland directly to Rotorua and not stay in Auckland the first night.

four of us went last year, stayed in a small house, literally 2-5min ride from redwoods. Had a shed and bike tools, garden full off fresh produce. We cooked up big feeds each arvo, played cards and drank. Awesome trip. Didn't drive around to much except to Skyline and into town again 5mins for one or two pub feeds in east street.

Shows as 30 Froude Street on google maps. Mate organised it and he now lives in wales lol. But it had a key there for us in a coded box. Deck and bbq out the back. Nice inside to.

Got a work trip to the North Island last week of June. Boss is letting me stay on an extra week, thinking of heading to Rotoroota. Is it worth trying to ride, or would the trails be likely closed?

Pohutoo Lodge is where Minty and I stayed when we went in 2015 EWS.
It's just down the road from they Geyser on the side of the town the redwoods are on, close enough to ride in if you happy for a quick 10min pedal down to the park there (or around the back where the dual slalom track and dirt jumps are).

Now Eat Street has opened Rotorua has a completely different vibe in the evening. Great mix of places to eat and drink

The Pig and Whistle is has a good vibe, good beer and good food.

Jet Park Hotel is mtb friendly, the boss is a mountain biker. They can sort out all the transfers etc. Airport hotel in AKL and the Rotorua location is halfway between Redwoods and Eat Street. It has a bike wash and storage. Ash is GM (mountain biker), tell them Ian & Nat sent you
