This is a build from scratch. The frame is as bare as you can get. No paint, no clear. Nothing.
A friend is beginning to import a range of bikes. Fat, Enduro, XC race, road. Components are also in the horizon with seats, posts, bars and wheels either complete or rims only.
This bike will hopefully showcase the frame, bars, seatpost and seat if I can bear the naked carbon seat!!
Some parts will be off my current ride, the wheels, stem, bars, grips, maybe fork until I can get one at a good price!

The frame has been delivered to Disciple Graphics https://www.facebook.com/Disciple-Graphics-366307910066888/ and instructions given regarding details and finish date. I would like the bike painted and bb/headset installed before my birthday which is the end of the month !

Can see why you went for the naked. Their factory colour ways are pretty putrid. Will they all be coming in this way?

All carbon frames/bikes?
Keen to see the entire frame you're building here too
Thanks.

All Carbon. Wheels, stem, seat(if you want!), bar, post.

And Disciple had arranged "store credit" when I gave him a Complete Big Hit a few months ago.!

And what do you plan to do with this beast good sir?
See how hard I can ride it!.... It is a replacement for a extremely reliable yet rough and stiff riding Polygon hardtail. Going to transfer as much running gear as possible off it. (Forks are only just functioning rebas. They are the weak ink in the transplant.) It has been scratched, thrashed as hard and fast as I dare ride a 100mm xc hardtail. used to do road k's and road climbs and local XC and cyclocross style events..

It will be my do it all road bike, xc race bike, training bike, commuter and prob another couple of subgenres too.

First coat applied..

This is the inspiration for the paintjob..

Apparently not anymore........

Dom from Disciple Graphics has told me that he has another idea.

The nice aqua blue grips already installed on the bar will not match anymore. sigh.

Oh well, i guess artistic creativity and all that !

Anyway, this is the first coat and I don't know how many more will go on before the detail starts.

It turns out a mate was at his studio and saw the frame before Dom had sent the pics! I have asked all to stop with the hints and pics on social media until I actually see the finished job. Dom is cool as with that, but I dunno if I can trust a couple of mates ! LOl...

Some bad quality screen grabs from the paint shop video.

The frame is painted. I will get to see it in the flesh(carbon(?))hopefully in the next day or so.

So sorry about the quality of images. Hope to get some better quality ones soon!

looking great bloke. nice to see something special. :thumb:
Cheers.

Now to decide if the old fork gets put on in the meantime to actually ride the thing or wait until a nice fork becomes available and install on a new frame?

At a minimum it will be....

stem. Thompson 80mm

bar/grips. 6E Carbon 750mm flat bar.

rear shifter SLX

f & r brakes. SLX

Wheels. I have new ARC 30 rims waiting to be built into this wheelset. Its a exact replacement, so normally you wouldn't replace spokes, but a couple have nice bends in them near the spoke nipple end. The rear rim has a couple of good dents in it, still holds air, but look crap, and would be weakened with the dents so will be replaced..(w/rear adapter for 12 x 142 hub spacing coming)The front can maybe stay.

Fork. This is a 2014(maybe) Reba solo air 100mm fork that hasn't been serviced properly in its life.
Its amazing to think it still barely functions!
So the weak link.
Its really disrespectful to even consider using this fork on the frame !!
On the list are sid wc or even a rs-1, lefty even has crossed my mind..but revelation will prob be it.. 100mm is the travel would like stiff ish fork.. I know... RS-1, yeah right.... reba it is then !!

Shimano brake rotors will be carried over with wheels.

Hoping the cranks will fit the BB. SLX there too.

Would really like XTR Di2 2 x 11 eventually... or even non Di2!!

Finally have cranks.

Snared them off eBay. They were a double chainset. The 36 oval doesn’t clear the chainstay when located inboard of the spider. Unfortunately it seems like it needs to be mounted outboard for clearance. The chainline now looks like it is very low on the cassette.. I hope the big angle doesn’t effect wear on the chain or potentially more chains dropping. Might consider a small chainguide..
Edit.. LBS want to try and install a 2mm or so spacer/washer on the cranks to help align them better.

And a pic of the chainring mounted inboard on the cranks.

It does look nice with the chainring bolt covers though !!

The final couple of parts have arrived.

The bike is off at the LBS getting the rear brake installed and bled. The rear derailleur has a internal guide for the cable and is easy to install.

Next time I build a frame up , gotta remember to install lines, cables, before pf bb gets pressed in with the tube to limit water ingress. !!
