Have you used it offroad on a 4wd at all? How did it handle it if so?
I had one for a while too. I picked it up from cycling deals ebay listing for $80.
It worked fine. I had it on the back of a 4x4 and did plenty of off road. You have to be a bit carefull of those clamps over the frame rubbing and chaffing your top tubes.
I've since updated to a Thule T2 classic rack that clamps the front wheel. Super fast to load, secure and no frame contact whatsoever.
Found it on ebay for $200. New they are over 6 hunge.

You going to be Brisbane way any time? I have a 3 bike grip rack I don't use any more. Needs a birthday so you need to see it first hand.

Cheers for the feedback. I'm going to put it on the back of my Cruiser and i don't plan on doing any solid wheeling with the bike on the back would prfer to get one that can handle a little of it if possible

Yeah, I use a block of foam to cushion the hook-frame contact. And my frames have skins on them too...

For a long trip, id also tie down the wheels and tie the hook to the top tube - just in case of a ratchet failure (buts its been rock solid so far).

Sutts we'll be turning over our rental stock in the new year and may have modular components to suit. These are normally snapped up by friends and family but you mentioned a Land Cruiser so you have my attention.

Something like this:

Which can also be swapped to this: http://www.isi-carriers.com/caravans/jayco/swan-bike-rack1.jpg

Or to this: http://www.isi-carriers.com/customers/patriot/patriot-x1-bike-rack.jpg

It'll all be allocated in mid Jan so if you are interested, shoot an enquiry over on http://www.isi-carriers.com/contact.html and just mention this post so that the enquiry comes directly to me. Happy to help a fellow 'Cruiser owner.

Hi mate,

Thanks very much that would be perfect, I'll send a msg through tonight.

I used to have a white hdj80 (FTE swapped) just like the one in the vid until it got stolen. Replaced it with a hdj105, was lucky to find one already FTE swapped :). Being able to have the bike on the back securely would be perfect when camping and off-road amd your carriers get a great wrap over on lcool.

You cannot go wrong with an isi on the back.

Did the gearbox and front diff go with the fte upgrade?

There's a manual H-series box in there but no diff upgrade / solid pinion spacer. Hasn't given me any issues yet *touch wood*. Only had it for a bit over a year though and haven't got out in the bush as much as I would like this year

Did you end up with a hitch rack? I needed a 4 rack so upgraded to the modular 2 / 4 ISI rack recently so I have their Classic Extreme Duty 2 bike rack to get out of the garage. Purchased Jan 2014 was holding for a mate but his car can't accept a towbar.. plus hadn't thought about selling online until I saw your post. It suits the 2" hitch but also have an adapter for towball. I'm near Windsor.
