Does anyone know if a shop has been ripped off recently in the Melbourne area? Just found some reasonably priced shifters for a mate, but the seller had a bulk lot and no idea what they were.

Looked into his other items for sale and almost none of it would have been from the same bike, and a lot of it is new. Then you see an ohlins shock for $100 and a shoe insole moulding machine and alarm bells start ringing good and loud.

He could have come across this stuff legally, possibly a bankruptcy sale or maybe a container lot? But it looks suss to me...

Funny you should say that, I messaged him last night about a front sram shifter he had (i want one for a dropper lever) but I couldn't tell from the pic what level it was (maybe older X9?).

I said "hey mate, what shifter is it in the pic? and where are you located" and he came back with just "monbulk" haha

Looks like someone was trying to sandpaper off the paint, rather than a paint job.

I know the previous owner and he had the bike professionally painted. It looks super porn in the flesh, but reduced the resale value somewhat.
And yeah, he sold it to the kid for circa 3.4k.

He definitely should have gone with our advise and painted it factory colours, but needed a rat rod colour scheme on his 'forever bike'.

This guy has business where he goes through and cleans out shops after they get liquidated and is getting his son to sell the left overs as pocket money, they know nothing about bikes but it is above board. A lot of it is lower end stuff or second hand but has some brand new e thirteen cranks and some roady ones as well.

Good to know. There's always a possibility it's either way, stoked it's all above board!

Now to buy some stuff I don't need from him...
