So have we....
Like when Abbott went hard claiming hanson conspired to defraud electoral allowances. Can't say i care too much for hanson but there was no way she was smart enough to do what abbott claimed. She only had a few nights in gaol but it was ridiculous they tried to scare her out that wau.

would love to see Trump go down one way or another esp in a wooden box but there was no way most Republicans would ever vote with their conscience .
Except Romney ,they all voted as expected and the impeachment process was a predictable farce, total waste of time and money.
So many stupid Americans he will probably be reelected so another 4 years of misery ,as long as he doesnt become dictator for life like his idol Putin .

Mitt Romney is as weak as any of them when the pressure is on. He’s in a safe electorate. He has, and will continue to lick trumps ass. There’s a few Republicans who made a name for themself threatening to turn against him, but never do when the pressure is on, or it counts.

So history will show Trump was impeached but acquitted in the Senate even though the Senate agreed he had done what he was acused of but that that wasn't enough to have him removed from office in their opinion. Yes he abused his power but that wasn't so bad really... The Democrats couldn't get enough support to call Bolton as a witness so there was always zero chance of Trump going. Sorry @moorey.

Bolton will still give his version of events though I reckon there will be renewed efforts to shut him up.

Can the Democrats get their shit together behind a viable candidate? Will the US voters punish the Democrats for what will be spun into a witch hunt? Probably no and probably yes.

Sad really.

The orangutan will now feel justified to go full banana, and if he wins term two, it's likely that he'll end up the only president to be impeached twice.

I'll give him some credit. Whilst he might not be up for reelection for another few years, the Republican establishment will throw all their funding at a more loyal candidate when that time comes. I'll be interested to see which way Utah votes - it's a safe Red state with a lot of MAGA die-hards but the mormons do seem to be the only members of the religious right who actually put there money where their mouth is when it comes to 'christian' attitudes like compassion, forgiveness and not being a c**t (although their liquor licensing laws leave a lot to be desired)

Additionally, Trump and his administration are notorious for being petty and malicious and Romney has just put himself in the firing line. Everything from federal grants and assistance for his electorate to DC dinner party invitations and lobbyist perks are likely going to be blocked by a spiteful Trump. I dare say Murdoch will be unleashing his dogs on him too. He's going to cop a hell of a lot of flack for this when he didn't have to so fair play to him!

Speaking of shaky re-election prospects, Alabama's lonely Democrat Doug Jones did well to hold strong and vote in favour of impeachment despite it most likely costing him his job in November. Between his and Romney's actions the history books will always say that the acquittal was not bipartisan but the vote to impeach was!

I've not lost all hope yet. Certainly the Democrats are a f***ing shambles right now but they've got two candidates in Bernie Sanders and Michael Bloomberg who whilst at opposite ends of the political spectrum can both claim to be sufficiently independent from the DNC to be able to hijack the vote - much in the same way Trump did to the Republicans.

Personally I reckon Bloomberg is the safer choice - Bernie's supporters are certainly the loudest and most enthusiastic but demographically speaking the Youth Vote is a lost cause and Sanders scares a lot of the old farts who overwhelmingly make up the numbers in an aging electorate.
Bloomberg has no real baggage, he can out-do Trump in the successful businessman stakes and all Trump has managed to hit him on so far is his height, which backfired when Bloomberg's camp immediately went low by saying [Trump] “lies about everything: his fake hair, his obesity, and his spray-on tan.”

Oh god. Hard disagree about Bloomberg.
Sanders will get the nomination unless torpedoed by DNC...which is very possible.
Warren has the chops, and despite trump thinking his pocohuntus taunts won’t impress many people.
Biden will be pushed by the DNC, but he’s dead in the water. Mayor Pete has too much baggage, not enough experience...and the gay thing.

Bloomberg might not be the candidate of choice for most Democrats but he's one of the only ones capable of winning against Trump. Same goes for Biden. Why else do you think the Trump administration have expended so much effort in trying to take out Biden? They know the most important electorate (middle-aged and senior conservatives fearful of social change and their 401k's) and they know which swing-states they have to retain and they see him as a threat. Ironically his age which has been a handicap in the Democrat debates, might actually help as Trump can't really use that against it given he's also an old c***t in visibly worse health.

Bloomberg is cut from the same centrist cloth but has the advantage of being richer and with a lot less baggage - He's stated he's prepared to spend up to a billion dollars and has already been taking out campaign ads during Fox and Friends. Cash is King in the US after all. Both men also appeal to voters who may be tired of the relentless onslaught of 'Breaking News' that sprays out like explosive dysentery from the Trump White House.

That said if Bernie gets the nomination - which is very likely - he might manage to galvanize some disenfranchised voters with his anti-establishment stance (which worked for Trump after all) but personally I can easily see him becoming the US version of Jeremy Corbyn - worshipped by his faithful but feared by everyone else. I'd also argue that he's too tightfisted. He won't spend enough money campaigning where he needs to - on TV and in the newspapers 24/7 which is where the last Australian election seemed to be won and lost.

As for Warren, I think she's a non-starter. The Pocahontas thing will haunt her to her grave. It was a shitty act on her part and it plays perfectly into Trump's (tiny) hands. In the eyes of a lot of Americans she's also tarred with the 'Socialist' brush and has just a little bit too much of a reminder of Hilary Clinton about her. Trump will have a field day with her.
