What does your day look like?

I stand firm by my belief that more important than their working qualities, is that they be true to form and have the right papers. They (aNd similar working breeds) also make excellent pets for inner city living.
Hahah! Great for apartment living and lapdogs, you can put them in your handbag up until they get over 6 weeks old, the mailman has a real affection for them.

I had a purebred roman nose bull terrier years ago, the kennel I bought her from had interbred I later found out, it just about had every problem under the Sun.

But I'll bet that bull terrier came up great on show day!
Actually it was sold to us because they couldn't show it, unknown to us at the time it had some birth defect where it's front teeth didn't line up properly (lose a lot of points when showing apparently), but we had no intention of showing it anyway. We took the dog back to the Kennel to put her in pup, and it was then when he told us. He was surprised when he had seen the dog again a few years later and then wanted to borrow it to take to shows because it excelled in other areas where the judges would most likely overlook the teeth defect. That dog cost us a mint in the end, we had done multiple operations on it to remove cancer plus all the other stuff like ear infections from having small ear canals.

But all jokes aside I'd rather drop a few thousand on a fancy dog with paperwork and some breed history than whatever he latest "oodle" designer mongrel is being flogged off by the puppy mills
Definitely. I work on puppy mill dogs daily, an the mutts that are passed off as "Labradoodles" give me the irrits. For example, one wolfhound x who's only claim to labrador lineage was his gold colour, a springer spaniel x (the markings and head/ears are unmistakable to someone who owned spaniels for 30 years) a "mini Labradoodle" that's a cavalier x, but the top billing goes to this bloke, who's paperwork says he's a chocolate labradoodle eyeroll

You know they were originally bred as a working dog, cattle step on their tails and break them so hence the tailless or bobtail cattle dog.
I had a good look into the breed/s before i brought her home, i'd had Cockers and Cavalier x Cockers for 30 years, and she was offered to me by her breeder (a client of mine) when i mentioned i'd had to get my old girl put down. The breeder is a retired cow cocky from Guyra who's been breeding working dogs forever.
The bob tail comes from the original blue marle Drover's cur from Northumbria, the Hall family brought them over as herding dogs but they weren't up to the feral cattle on the properties, so Thomas Hall bred them with dingoes he'd tamed. He selected for the work they could do rather than soley on appearance and none of the dogs left the property until after his death, as they were the edge over his competitors. After his death the family sold off the dogs and dumped 30 years of meticulous breeding records down a well :O the bobtail gene was random until a group of enthusiasts petitioned the Kennel Club in the 80's to have the stumpies recognised as a separate breed. The criteria are slightly different from ACD's in colour, stance, and temperament.

When I eventually 'caved' and said they could have a dog. I wanted a Kelpie.... she wanted a Cavoodle.

Mum was a Cavalier, Dad was a Toy Poodle. Flew him from Sydney with all the paperwork, microchip and kennel club shit.

Was a good decision, basically no hair shedding, lets me sleep after nightshift, doesn't chew anything except empty toilet rolls and does little skinny pencil poos that dry up in the sun after a couple of days.

Fukn needs a haircut every 4-5 weeks though, here's him after a 'home' trim, we cut his hair ever other visit to the groomer, just a trim, the groomer makes him look really Poodle.

I don't trust many animal breeders. The few that my mate had bred, threw a few pups with full tails and they just cropped them at birth. I can't remember whether his female originally came from Kingaroy in NQ or Casino in NSW, it was about 30 years ago. I recall he was a very quick dog, couldn't have much of a joke with him when you played ball, he'd take the ball out of your hand before you even knew it.

It's a running joke among groomers about poodle x owners complaining that their dog looks like a poodle after a groom - "don't poodle my oodle" lol.

Ask your groomer for a shaggy all one length clip, but whatever you do don't ever ask for a "puppy cut" :D :D

I really struggle with knowing breeders still crop tails. And for what, to pass off crossbreed Heelers as ASTCD?

Put it this way - anatomically your brain sits in a bag filled with fluid, the meninges. That bag extends the full length of your spine, and your spinal fluid has a distinct pressure just like your circulatory system and lymphatic system. Spinal injuries can cause issues with that pressure resulting in migraines and chronic pain. Now imagine having that circulatory system crimped by a tail docking.
Pups born with a stumpy tail won't have those particular issues.

Still...if it looks good in the show ring, it should be allowed.
