I've had the same dropper pouter on my bike it's whole life...but 3 inner cables.
Make sure you lube everything as you go as well.

Send me the recipe and I'll test it on mates bikes for you.I've been trialling a new method - Loctite + lithium grease paste. Results are good so far but I'm not ready to go full public yet.

As a matter of fact he has been complaining of squeaking rotors. I'll apply it without him knowing to prevent any placebo effect.Has he got fresh rotors? That's the next stage of testing. Going to stop the squeak.

Stiff link.
So just lube then?
Chain suck, something is worn or miss matched, There's a difference between 12speed hyperglide and the old HG-x chains too.Could possibly go in one of the drive train threads, but...
I'm getting a crunching sound coming from the drivetrain when pedalling especially in the easier gears when spinning up a hill.
Having a look at it on the stand, it looks like the chain is getting hung up/sticking at the bottom of the crank on each revolution.
Crankset is a raceface, cassette/derailleur is Shimano 12 spd and chain seems to Shimano HG.
Wrong chain? Cranks and cassette don't play nice? Something else?
My hardtail has 6yrs and 7000km on it, still running the original outer lol.Yeah no inner with the XT shifter. So I'm guessing that means I need to replace the outer too?
Most videos I've watched assume you're replacing everything.

I wouldn't bother
Like my tractor with its new grip!Forgot to mention it is a good chance to get all matchy matchy with your colours ...

Everything feels good in the back paddock. Or so I have heard.Exactly! That oury is going to feel so good in the back paddock
It is an easy and inexpensive task...so why not? But like I said, if the outer cable is in reasonable condition it won't matter.
Careful saying silly things like last silly question.Last silly question - can I pull the cable through from the shifter or should I remove the outer cable from the frame first?
