Sounds like old mate Bob needed to be more careful.

Bank cheque, cash or verified transfer at the bank.

No rego transfer still needs the buyers license details to report the disposal of the registered vehicle/van/trailer here in SA.
Everyone needs to be more careful

Mr Greenfield
I was waiting for a massive bank cheque to clear from divorce financial settlement, lawyers trust account was with Westpac, I’m with Nab.

Nab tells me a bank cheque from any bank can be cancelled, takes 3-5 days to clear into the recipients account, when the amount appears in the account but isn’t available, it can be reversed, once it’s showing as available it’s yours to place on red at the casino.

I was stuck with uncleared funds for a long weekend. Sucked worse then crank brothers wheels.

I asked both banks what was the point of paying for a bank cheque, it costs something silly like 30 bucks, takes days, and can be reversed, where as an eft is next day, or 90 seconds if both parties are osko enabled. Bank staff couldn’t give me any reasons beyond legacy system they make a profit from. Large amounts typically left in banks transfer accounts earning them 3-5 days of interest. The royal commission into banking triggered the osko system being born. Guess bank cheques weren’t criticised too heavily?

When I drove to Adelaide to get the turbo levo, I made payment on a Sunday, seller didn’t have osko enabled, so jumped in the car and headed back to Melb, noon the next day funds cleared so I turned around.

TL:DR. Never ever release goods till money is cleared in your account, and you’ve moved it out of that account, to another bank.

Bank cheques have to be paid for with cleared funds, it is much easier to cancel a normal cheque than it is a bank cheque ie a normal cheque can be cancelled by the person who issued it, at their whim. Not so easy with a bank cheque, as you have already forked out the cash.

I see it more as a just in case, of course it works to the banks interest (pun intended), everything does.

Bought a SDG Bel-Air V3 saddle from Commencal Australia.
$120 posted, but they couldn't be fucking bothered sending it in a small box or even some bubble wrap to protect it from the Auspost gorillas.
Saddle was loose inside the plastic post bag. It seems ok/undamaged, but a piss-poor effort from Commencal Aus.:mad::mad:

M8... it's a saddle. It's not fragile, it's literally made of padding. Those satchels are plenty sturdy for abrasion protection. Take a breath and enjoy your afternoon haha.

No. if the rails were damaged, that would be a fucking problem.
Perhaps you would like them to send you a frame wrapped in a plastic sheet, FFS.

I had one rock up that had been sent like that, it had a bent rail where something had squashed it in transit. I just straightened it out and used it, but I'm glad it wasn't wasn't a sharp bend or dents in the rail. It was deflected a heap though, the bent rail was sitting ~15mm higher than where it should've been

Well colour me surprised! Have had saddles come in satchels with no packing other than their little retail dangle board thing (technical term, obvs) before and never batted an eyelid.

I'm sure most people could be caught out with a confident, friendly scammer who has talked the talk and scams you out of your cash with a cleverly worked out payment scam.

Anyone who thinks they are getting a dual cab ute for $9k and sends the cash probably needs to have that expensive lesson.

I'm glad you don't package things you sell on Rotorburn this way.

;)
I did buy a set of raceface aeffect cranks on RB that had a tissue-sized piece of bubblewrap loosely draped around them and then just put in an Auspost plastic bag. that was a bit fucked. no "padding" - all metal banging around and a bunch of toothy edges. surprised they made it to me at all.

I seem to recall sending a particular burner some brake adapters. And using a whole roll of packing tape to protect them. Favourite though is sending @Minlak a dropper post to his work. Carefully packaged as a long cylindrical thing with the return address Dildoes r us.

I sent $60 to a Gumtree bloke last night for a new in box $300 current model watch. Was getting sus vibes for a couple of reasons but, as a betting man (not really), I took a chance. Figured it was 50/50.

To my surprise he sent me photos of the postage receipt and tracking number this morning. Has improved to 70/30 now.

Worst case, it’s a cheap lesson.
