I've owned a few larges over the years and while they maybe felt a bit big back then, the modern stretching over the past few years would probably have made them feel good now. A Geometry Geeks comparison would have had them as mediums in 2023.

S4 sits between a large and XL arguably, Specialized sizing is a bit weird.

I ride both M and L depending on the geometry.
Have had both L and M in the same generation One9 RDO and prefer the M due to the lower stack height and the more exposed seatpost places me further back and feels more balanced... YMMV
