    Just get out to hifi stores and listen to as many speaker/reciever combo's as you can. Everyone hears things differently, and you'll get a different opinion from everyone you ask. With the reciever, go for quality/brand (they don't necessarily go hand in hand) over gimmicks. Stick with 5.1, 7.1...
