Port to Port 2018.... and a great ride was had by all!

I don't normally weigh into forum discussions such as this but after spending the last 12 months as part of the team planning this event and the whole week of the event busting my balls to put it on I thought I might pipe up and set a few things straight: -This event is now owned by Ironman...

    Thredbo New All Mountain Trail

Do you need to do the two-hour chairlift / downhill introduction to access the Flow and AM trials if you have not been to Thredbo previously? I have done lift assisted mountain biking overseas and would be annoyed if I had to do this just access these trials. I can not see any mention of...

    Thredbo New All Mountain Trail

Do they still make you do that 2 hour orientation to ride the Flow and AM trails if you have never been up the lift at Thredbo before? I have used lifts in the US and would be annoyed if you had to do it just to ride these trails

Specialized epic and X-King 29x2.4 rear tyre will it fit?

My Brother in Law had difficulties fitting a set of Mountain Kings to his Specialised Epic - not sure of the exact model but they have the carbon wheels, he could not get the tyres onto the rims, and neither could a local bike shop, they were 29x2.2 - might have been a one off issue but I would...

    VIC Found

Haven't read every post, but another option to consider as a starting point is the Apollo Summit 24, mech discs as standard and Shimano trigger shifters (at least it did when I got my 9 year old one 2 years back) , still weights a bit and has a basic for but worth a look, costs around $400...

    Shimano mineral brake fluid

Not wanting to be caught out you actually made me go and check, and guess what - it is in fact Coles Smart Buy Baby Oil - even cheaper than the common "brand name" stuff

    Shimano mineral brake fluid

FWIW, I have had Johnsons mineral oil in my Shimano Deore brakes for at least 4 years with no issues at all. They have not leaked, I have not needed to rebleed them and they work as well as the day that i first installed them, better than the 1 year old Avid Elixir 3 that I have on my new...

Sore knee from riding clipped in - pulling up, toe positioning and muscle engagement

Without wanting to get into any sort of Physio vs Chiro argument, all I will say is that there are good and bad operators in all professions and it sounds like you may just have had a crap Physio the first time around. As for joints being out of alignment, that is another point of contention...

Sore knee from riding clipped in - pulling up, toe positioning and muscle engagement

I agree with the JamesMTB opinion - I clearly don't get some of what he says as it seems to go against a lot of other well proven and researched information. I also agree that it sounds like a possible tendinopathy, most likely down to a combination of factors. As a Physiotherapist I...
