The Self Sufficient Bike Camping Thread.

Check out http://www.exped.com one of my mates just got a SynMat UL to replace a thermarest mat he had. He can actually sleep on his side with out his hip touching the ground, and weighing less than 500g and packing smaller he is much happier with it than his old thermarest (cheaper too).

Kowen / Majura / Yale Glum ??? Whats rideable

They do head into Kowen every once in while but I have only seen them driving around the forest near the old homestead site where the 24hr was held before moving to stromlo. Noisy and easy to dodge.

Hi Norm or anyone who has an answer I was just wondering if you have decided on when stage one and four will start? I am trying to work out if I can make use of some free accommodation without having to get up at sparrows fart to make the start line on time. Thanks

    The Mont24 Hr - 2011, Mt Kowan

The Orchard Road gate is only 100m up from the Sparrow Hill parking area so it is pretty easy to find. A map has been published and last time I was out there the loop was marked fairly well. http://www.mont24.com.au/images/mont_loop_3_march.jpg

2011 MONT 24hr gpx course file

You could try camping at the old Kowen Homestead where the Scott/Mont was held before heading over to Stromlo. http://www.tams.act.gov.au/play/pcl/bookings_permits_and_payments/camping/old_kowen_homestead You could easily ride across to the new tracks via fire trails and explore some of...

    Helmet for a fat head

Has anyone seen Limar helmets for sale in Canberra? I tried one on at rebel sport but it was one of the lower end models which I was wasn't planning on getting. I have giro e2 but it is not a perfect fit my head being more oval than round.

    shock for GT-LTS

Years ago I replaced the stock Rock Shox rear shock on my LTS-1 with a Risse Genesis which worked a treat. Their website still lists a range of shocks for GTs http://www.risseracing.com/gt.shtml Where you can pick one up from is another battle that I will leave to you.

    Course Marshalling

Hi, would someone out there be able to able to tell me what is involved in being a XC course marshal? CORC is wanting more volunteers for the Nationals and I was thinking of giving up some of my time (it gets me out of painting two bedrooms so not completely selfless). Is it just a matter of...
