Spoke tension variation - Question for wheel builders.

I re-tensioned it. Within: DS 7% (was +31/-31%), NDS 6% (Was +40/-31%). Happy with that. I'll do some km on it and re check. Added a 32mm tyre at 80 PSI and re-checked tensions. Ref below.

Spoke tension variation - Question for wheel builders.

I measured the tensions. I have two tension meters, an analogue and a digital one, both give similar results though neither have tecnically been calibrated. The wheel has been supplied under warranty after two low km failures (Rim cracked) of the original wheel on a bike I purchased. Long story...

    My New Commuter...

Well. Here we are again. E-bike has a funny creak under high pedal effort. Went looking for it and had a general check while I'm there. Creak seems to be coming from the motor unit area. Pulled the LH plastic covers part way off to see the mounting bolts (nuts). Could get to two of three of them...

    My New Commuter...

Yep. Built one. (Note these bikes have an odd wheel offset so nothing off the shelf fits.) 36h double eyeleted (29ER "Downhill") rim, DTSwiss hybrid hub. (Joked "Any more bulletproof, someone would want to send it to Ukraine." Two commute days old. Its been ~ 10 weeks so far and the warranty fix...

    My New Commuter...

Time for another update. Since Jan been in the office generally 2 days a week. First ride on the E-Bike since May 2021. Times have been slowing slightly (~ 2 min over 85 min) slowing a little, as again I optimize the way I ride in assist mode. I had a couple of outbound rides which were windy...

    My New Commuter...

My experience on an E bike for commuting. I have a 38.4 km (each way) commute. To work its ~ 300m elevation gain to work, ~ 440 home. I can and have done the commute on both a road bike and a “commuter” bike. (not much though because I started this job in the COVID lockdown.) The Road bike is a...

BIKE RACKS AND CARRIERS FOR CARS MEGATHREAD - all questions asked and answered here

Great Racks When you no longer have access to green utes, such racks can be adapted to other hosts. Here is the rack off. Note the roof rail bar front and rear (pick up any ISO slot roof bar cheap). I made it so I could position the roof bars in many locations (note holes on flat strips where...

BIKE RACKS AND CARRIERS FOR CARS MEGATHREAD - all questions asked and answered here

Not on the floor of the ute, but a bit higher so I could put crap in the ute for going to 24's. Bolts on to the standard mounting points. Got a spare tonneau cover and notched it. 10 mins on or off. I used a couple of ISO slot roof bars so the racks would slot in. Make it as high, or low as you...
