Evil Wreckoning Review

Ultra Lord

Hurts. Requires Money. And is nerdy.
But, are you gonna be bottoming it out with a crank dropped? Thanks a sketchy landing if so.

Fair call. It is pretty low, but damn it must rail corners like no tomorrow.
It really does, Just took it out. The XLOW setting makes a large difference.
There's a noticeable shift in weight, biasing it further towards the rear.
It also is noticeably lower, I had about 5 pedal strikes just on the first 1/3 of the climb. Which I didn't have in LOW.
But on the way down it felt like the tires was glued to corners. and it felt slightly easier to get air
Besides the pedal strikes. I actually prefer the XLOW setting.

As a note i was running the 11.6 in the fully open/ DH setting. Which normally makes the bike harder to jump

Ive watched it and agree with its very hard to balance the suspension with the 11.6
Dont like the way they tested them though.

I would love to see a SB5.5 and Jeffsy in that mix as well, but if the start testing every bike in category it's gunna be a big job - but a fun one.

Whoa! I haven't posted here since before the forum software transition and it feels real weird now. Anyway I've had my Wreckoning since August 2016 and loved them since I first rode a friend's. I've been running a 36 talas most of the time, a pike for a bit while the fork was having the float air spring replacing the talas. It was only 150mm with the talas which may have been why I've always used the x-low setting. I've just put in shock works -1.5 degree cups to get it slacker after the float conversion got the 36 out to 160mm and had a few rides with that setup. I noticed I tend to get on the tip of the seat a bit more on long steep climbs now so I'll probably change the current seat to something that is better for that, like an old specialised seat I've got on another bike.

Changed the 36 float with a Luftkappe, but haven't had a chance to ride it yet due to injury. The monarch shock is very poor in my experience at 95kg. I've mostly used a fox float X2, with periods on CCDB air and coil, but the fox feels better than the other two IMHO. The air spring is better than the CCDB air, and a bit of ramp in the Fox air spring shades the CCDB coil I feel. The shock changes are a bit expensive, so if I didn't have other bikes using the same shock lengths that I could try, I'd probably just get the monarch done with the Vorsprung Tractive mod now. Lost the money I'd paid Defcon for the Fox upgrade btw, the X2 came off a patrol I was using it on.

It's a funny sort of bike. I just use it for 40-50 km loops that I used to do on my 429T because I can just smash the descents, and my climb PR's on strava are pretty much split between the two bikes using the same wheel set and tyres, with the same FTP for me. I've taken it to whistler for two weeks and felt completely comfortable on it too. I'd like a bottle mount though for short rides mid-week. If the pics are still hosted after the transition there's a couple back in the history of the AM subforum PYR thread, and if I figure out the new software I'll post my current build.

EsPeGe would probably be able to tell you more mine doesn't get ridden on super steep stuff a lot.
Sorry dudes been off the grid a while. Been racing (poorly) then I've just gotten back from Tassie. Did Derby and Maydena. Maydena is STEEP. I still haven't used the XLOW setting yet as I still have plenty of pedal strikes in the Low setting but the Wrecker was awesome. I love this bike. Although I have found it's achillies heel. On steep tight techy climbing corners it's a pig. Looking at the Geo you'll say "derrrrr" but so far that's the only issue I've found and it's a minor one for me.

Who needs techy climbs anyways ;)

I'm hearing only good things about the DVO though mate. I'm hopefully down your way in a couple of weeks so hopefully we can get a ride in.
