I've been running this for a while now, and realised that I haven't done a PYR...

It was purchased stock and the SRAM brakes and drivetrain were sold off before the bike hit the dirt.

I ran the stock wheels to start with and there's been a few changes in that department, going to Hope DH wheels and settling on the Nextie wheels that are on it now.

I also ran the stock bars and stem for a while before picking up a bargain on the Sixc bars and throwing them on. Bonus that they were green too! The only other real change from stock was immediately getting rid of the 30t chainring and going for a 34.

Here's a couple of shots of the evolution of the rig and the only action shot I could find! Enjoy!

Nice write-up mate.
I'm considering joining the Kona cult later this year.

Did the switch to carbon rims make a big difference? Did the bike feel faster / stiffer / more-betterer ?

They did make a difference for sure. The biggest change I've found so far is with the acceleration of the bike. Noticeably better!

They replaced Hope DH wheels and I'm running exactly the same tyres and inserts. There was around a 200g difference per wheel.

I haven't been able to give it a good run on anything too rough or prolonged just yet, but initially they seem to feel lighter / more responsive on the rough stuff. Fingers crossed I'll be able to get to a shuttle day no too far down the track to give them a good hit out.

Very happy so far though. A good upgrade.
