Changed in Vic as well but not sure when. They offer hotel quarantine in Vic for community infected people to get out of their houses so they don’t spread it to other family members..Correct. Looks like NSW has learnt a lesson from the Ruby Princess debacle, VIC...not so much.
US health secretary Alex Azar has warned that “the window is closing” on the country’s chance to take action to effectively curb the coronavirus, as the number of confirmed cases surpassed 2.5m.
Heard from other family members today that it wasn't just 'not allowed in' as Mother reported to me. It was a justified bollocking for even being at the hospital in the first place, and for coming over putting my 89yo Nanna at risk. F-witsMy Grandfather was carted off to hospital two nights ago. His request, feeling not right, turns out to be a chest infection, an infection in his catheter, and a fair bit of fluid on his left lung. He's 96, so the doctors are understandably taking it cautiously and keeping him there. Covid test, the whole 9 yards.
Anyway, my parents rush over from SA to be the 'helpful' heroes, to be told by the hospital only Nanna is allowed in the room with him, and if/when he gets moved to a new room, only two people can be nominated to visit, and those names can not be changed. (There's 6 siblings, 5 of which live here.) Oh, and because they're from interstate they'll have to self isolate for 14 days before they can go anywhere. Don't think it's hit them yet that they'll isolate again when they fuck off home.
Seriously, I must be adopted.
Condolences @Stredda - never a pleasant time for a family. My Mum passed away on Friday and we are in Tassie and one of my brothers lives in Canberra and to attend the funeral this week he had apply for an exemption for the funeral. He then have to fly into Launceston via Melbourne and quarantine himself in a hotel there for that night, then drive directly to the funeral the next day. He has to get a hire car as he has to travel by himself so we can't pick him up. He has to wear a mask at all time when around others, he must drive straight to the funeral and then straight back to the hotel in Launceston, stay that night, then drive to Hobart the next day (as that was the most convenient flight he could get) and then fly back to Canberra. Luckly he doesn't have to quarantine after he gets back home.
Trump being in charge.
Dude that is sad news, and the faffing about for your brother just compounds it.My Mum passed away on Friday and we are in Tassie and one of my brothers lives in Canberra and to attend the funeral this week he had apply for an exemption for the funeral. South Australia has recorded its first new COVID-19 cases since May, with three returning travellers in quarantine in the CBD – including a three-year-old girl – returning positive tests.
The state on the weekend welcomed more than 300 returning Australians from overseas, including around 260 travellers from Mumbai and around 70 defence force personnel, all of whom have been mandatorily quarantined at the Pullman Hotel on Hindmarsh Square.
“We do test everybody that comes in internationally and that’s exactly what’s happened… there are three positive cases,” Chief public health officer Professor Nicola Spurrier revealed this afternoon.
None of the defence force returnees have yet tested positive, but the three cases on the flight from Mumbai, which arrived via Singapore, included a three-year -old girl, a woman in her 30s and a woman in her 40s.
It is concerned that apathy among young adults has mutated the coronavirus into a Millennial bug
Young adults now represent about a third of the state’s second-spike caseload, compared with about a quarter of the first peak in infections.
Victoria’s Chief Health Officer, Professor Brett Sutton, said that in some of the suburban outbreaks frustrating health authorities, the virus was being spread by people under the age of 40 who were either asymptomatic or had only mild cold and flu symptoms.
Victoria has recorded 75 fresh COVID-19 cases, bringing the state’s confirmed total to 2099.
One new case was linked to hotel quarantine, 14 were linked to known outbreaks, 37 were detected through routine testing and 23 were under investigation, Health Minister Jenny Mikakos said today.
It came after 49 new COVID-19 cases were recorded on Sunday – Victoria’s highest daily total since April 2.
We here in nsw north coast are waiting for outbreak in nearish future with the holidaymakers all flying in, no QLD trip coming for me.SA - 3 cases from the returned passengers.
NSW - 7 cases since Sunday, all returned passengers.
Vic the Millennial bug.
They are doing the right thing with the incoming flights, quarantining them in a specific hotel but all it takes is one worker like a cleaner or kitchen hand to take it out of the hotel into the community. We here in nsw north coast are waiting for outbreak in nearish future with the holidaymakers all flying in, no QLD trip coming for me.
I now understand trumpie, just shut our borders
Fuck me. Mrs George has refused to travel overseas forever, and I'm starting to see why......
