    Changing shock to increase travel?

It'll completely change the geometry of the frame ie raised bottom bracket, steeper head angle. Also you might find that it could possibly top out on the frame.

    Tyres for lysterfield

Might have to try the nobby nic front and racing ralph rear, I assume they would be equally suitable for you yangs as well. Hows the sidewalls of those schwalbe tyres? I found the nevegals to be quite thin.

    Tyres for lysterfield

I find the Kenda Nevegals to be pretty decent for Lysterfield, never had an issue with slipping while descending or climbing.

Sustainable bike shop (at a university campus)

Sounds like a good idea, you might even possibly want to incorporate a mini cafe into as well. Students love coffee.

    Lifetime warranty on Giant frames?

Replace the frame for sure, get in contact with your Giant local rep (if your the original owner and have the receipt/appropriate paper work). Also get in touch with the Giant Section of MTBR, lots of similar stories. You didn't do anything silly and not have enough seat post in the frame? or...

Giant introduce an awesome innovative new standard.

Maybe Giant have caught onto people who buy there excellent value bikes, who just simply buy the bike for those parts and sell the frame, thus making it so its harder to put those said parts onto other bike frames because of the new standards will result in some weird compatibility issues.

    Shredded Rotor Mounts

Well actually its not that difficult, because all you would want to do is just take the top off, then remove the rotor and then use pliers to screw it out that way. I've had to do this with M2 bolts that were in embedded in a brass block. By the way joesturdy how is old wang? I'm originally from...

    Yarra Trails regulars

Hmm maybe I'll give it a miss, I don't wish to promote any further damage. It sounds like these trails have a fair few issues in the wetter months, might be best to leave them be until the soup is gone so to speak. Maybe its time for me to read through the countless pages to get a glimpse of...

Giant introduce an awesome innovative new standard.

Good Point S. That is the most rational arguement I've read so far, disregarding the Pro or Anti Giant fan boys.

Giant introduce an awesome innovative new standard.

From what i've gathered over the years with any new "innovation" is that some other guy will always come up with a way around it, just takes time. I think Chris King are already setting up mix sets for the 1 1/8 and 1 1/2 headsets, I know that you can get Fox and Rockshox in the tappered...

Giant introduce an awesome innovative new standard.

Yer its a getting a bit silly now, makes it real retarded to get pretty much any spares unless its Giant branded.

    Shredded Rotor Mounts

Get some built at Chain Reaction Cycles, so much cheaper. The thread tappers will just follow the original thread and clean out any sh!t that might be in there. I would imagine that the Torpedo 7 tool should be okay for that specific job, might even get one for myself :D
