Have you got access to CONSULT3 or whatever the Nissan diagnostic tool is? I think you might need that to clear the MIL and DPF lights no matter what... not sure that they'll reset themselves. If the MIL is on, that must be turned off before it'll do a regen itself, no matter what else you do...

I had one a couple of months ago and used a freeze spray on the little bastard - think the freeze burn took longer to heal than the tick bite... bloody awkward thing to use, too
