What made you decide to e-bike?

I still don't mind the occasional dart, especially if I've had a few, but my greatest ebike achievement was figuring out how to run my vape and wonderboom from the lighting connector on a Bosch motor.

What made you decide to e-bike?

Yes. Can't be bothered to change it around as it's an aggressor I got ultra cheap instead of something serious like a dhr2 maxxgrip. No. But it's got a Secus, a non vvc grip2 damper that has damping that isn't choked out by rebound like the vvc grip2, and was originally a cherry red marzocchi...

What made you decide to e-bike?

Yep, I couldn't agree more. I've just invested in another personal shuttle vehicle for laps before work. Now I just need the battery to turn up to finish the build. Charges off roof top solar too, so less carbon intensive than a traditional shuttle.

It's almost twenty years ago, but I think "Trend Whore" was already taken.

Newly Released Suspension & Components General

Drafted up a trollish post, but if you're running either a 38 or zeb at their max travel, and you're lightish, this might let you get into the end travel of those forks. There's a probably apocryphal suspension maxim that it's stiction, spring, then damper that you need to work on to get your...

    Black Friday sales 2024

Just because MTB direct had large banners with 50% off for many well known brands, and there was only one item actually discounted in womens XXS size, it's still technically black friday.

Newly Released eBikes and eComponents General

Because I'm climbing routes I wouldn't have considered climbing regularly (six days a week), to get to DH runs. Even though boost would get me up that climb, there are battery and heat management issues. I just try to keep the motor at normal trail assist, and use the gearing to keep me spinning...

    Fork bushings

Only fork I've ever had a problem with was a Zeb Ultimate, which is why I ended up getting down this rabbit hole. Couldn't get 0.07 into it and started on the 0.04 and worked up to the 0.07. Everything else I've got had the 0.07 go through easily, so I've always just stopped there. edit: Now...

    Fork bushings

Grabbed a pro kit when they had a black friday sale last year. Brought the gap down to about $200.

    The Steel Spur

Rear or front caliper? I've never used them on the rear, and had no failures on the front using hope v4, shimano xt, and code patterns. The power and heat profiles are massively different for front and rear brakes though, and I'd always used different compounds for the rear before I played with...

    The Steel Spur

I've got some Sinter greens, blues, and Galfer x commencal team pads to try, but I've only just worn through the stock pad pairs. Probably the best stock/non-wanker level brakes I've used that can I remember.

    Having to defend analogue…

I still ride my analogues, but it's mostly when I'm on holiday at somewhere like Thredbo or Maydena.

    Having to defend analogue…

lol if you're ever wanting to experience ebike rage, there's the beach cycleway north of Wollongong. There's a free for all of dui bogans, school kids in uniform, chicks in bikinis, to old boomers that can't hold a licence for health reasons on throttle controlled bikes. Probably why riding an...

    Having to defend analogue…

Yeah, nah. It's pretty much taken a couple of years, but it's quite substantially changed the way I ride and train. The power, heart rate, TSS and hrTSS scores have been very informative. If you've used power meters to train previously, you'll be happy quite a few systems (Bosch and Specialized...

    Having to defend analogue…

It helps to think of ebiking like an easier to organise shuttle with only one wanker in the group.

    Newly Released Bikes General

Tempting. Sort of an Egerie with a pinion that you don't need to speak French to order. If they get around to an pinion MGU with the ability to reproduce what I like currently, I'd be all in.

    Newly Released Bikes General

Yeah, I read an article by the Intend guy well over a decade ago about why he did the stem options he offered, and since then have tried to use bar rise rather than stem spacers to keep reach constant.

    Newly Released Bikes General

I've been running a higher front end lately, going from 20mm to 40mm rise bars, and liking it. Sort of puzzling why Dakota Norton was continually asked about his bars, because if you've got a double crown fork you're never going to be able to get the height from a longer headtube.
