Newly Released Suspension & Components General

I"m unsure whether this has come up in this thread before: DVO / WP Cone valve fork and shock(s) Now available aftermarket, for limited time. I guess until they are sold out https://bikerumor.com/dvo-wp-suspension-collab-puts-moto-damper-tech-in-ltd-mtb-forks-shocks/ I had wondered whether...

    Site access issues recently

Every time the forum goes down, it feels as if big social has launched another attack on the final remnants of the old powers of the internet. Forums all over were already dying / dead,, and surely all of the recent downtime isn't helping the situation. I am interested to know how many...

    VIC pump track register

Spotted a little dirt pump track in Leopold, greater Geelong region today. Looked like a one-way, top to bottom type. Condition of Lysterfeild's one - Dire. The 'skills' area there is SO desperate for repairs. One of the worst bits at Lysterfield honestly!

Newly Released Suspension & Components General

Short cage used to be king, and now they practically don't exist outside of DH. It's funny at the DH races seeing all of the 'enduro' bikes with long cage mechs in low cog, fully reclined derailleur with effectively zero spring tension, and the suuuper slack chains. Slack enough to touch the...

Probable Fake Shimano Chains on Ebay

This has been going on for years. I'm sure there is a past thread on here about fake chains from Ebay. It will definitely be in the AliExpress thread. I seem to remember they measured as ~ half way worn straight out of the packet, and wore out within 1000km compared to many 1000's for genuine...

Help finding RD hanger - XDS E-Rupt 2020 eBike

My mate got a Bafang kit from Lekkie. Might be worth sending them an email to see if they can help you with the sensor cable. Also might be worth going back to a 9spd cassette. Nobody uses the big cogs on their E-bikes unless the battery has run out.

    The Steel Spur

Fair enough if it feels better! My experience is with an older dorado with IRT, and Marzocchi ATA (Don't laugh, when it works it works well) On both I found setting the ++ much closer to the + pressure was the way to go for me. Around 15-20% higher. Just enough for the extra support, but no...

    The Steel Spur

your setup and observation is interesting! Generally the 3 chamber is more sensitive off the top than a regular 2 chamber design, and requires LESS compression damping for support, as it comes from the air spring. Excess compression damping is the usual thing attributed to harshness...

    Low pressure floor pump

What pressure do you run your gravel tyres at? If not over 60psi, get the mountain X.

But it's $92NZ + postage. For all of about 20 shims, (probably less) and his drawing / graph. I get he's spent time developing the tunes, but what gives with that price. Got to be the worst value upgrade from him in terms of what you get. I respect him, and what he does, and other suspension...

Cool to see the smashpot finally coming for dual crown forks. I guess the DC version just has a much longer top shaft, and the spring mounts lower down on it... One thing I am interested to know, from Steve himself replying to comments on pinkbike... Steve mentions the smashpot is the only coil...

    Solid lube bearings

Needle roller bearings are nice, but their seals are usually non-existant, and the requirement for hardened and polished shafts for them to roll on really are 2 downsides for bike use, when manufacturers like to use alu hardware and pivot axles to save weight

    Solid lube bearings

Enduro bearings are expensive, but Full compliment bearings are expensive regardless of which company they come from. What we should be using in pivots is Double Row bearings, but most frames and linkages aren't designed with enough material to house the extra depth of the bearing

    Green steel, carbon & Wood(s).

Just casually changed the dropper. No "first silver dropper in Australia" or any of that nonsense. I want one for my hardtail, just with external routing. Will match my silver/raw/black colour scheme

    Crank length changes, your experiences?

I REMOVED my 165mm cranks from 1 of my bikes, as it was the only bike i had with short cranks. It was the odd one out, and just felt weird compared to all my other bikes that have 175's. 10mm shorter (or more) and the pedalling circle, and loss in power transfer is definitely noticable Just...

NSW Bring out your de.. I mean 26“ tyres

Cyclink in Bayswater (vic) had stacks of Vittoria Goma's (26x2.25 folding, non tubless ready though) on sale for l think $25 each last time I was in there. I have some on my hardtail that have been good enough, kind of like a low tread depth minion dhf. Might be worth phoning them on monday to...
