How tall are you mate? I'm 181 and always on the cusp of M/L frames.

Thredbo riding in the Wet & cold

As Moggio said something to keep you warm on the chairlift. If the wind is blowing the usual 12min ride up turns in to 15 so you want a wind proof shell at least. A hoodie or similar is no good as the wind will just go straight through it. Guiding I used to wear long MX pants and thermo vest and...

    Mountain biking in Japan

Nothing wrong with Tassie mate. After this, my second, 4yr stint, here in Japan I'm looking forward to getting back home next month and riding SEQ DH tracks. Luckily, I don't have to want for karrage as my wife is a Japanese chef. I will miss the convenience of having a 7-11 200m away.

    Mountain biking in Japan

Hahaha! Kanto drivers are anything but cautious. I've become so used to having truck mirrors miss my head by mere inches, avoiding opening car doors, and avoiding sucidal grannies that road riding in Australia would be a breeze. I treat each ride like a blind, full-pace DH run. My "road bike" is...

    Mountain biking in Japan

It's getting there slowly. The resorts have been pretty slow to pick it up due to to usual corporate narrow mindedness but those that have seem to be make headway. Fujimi Panorama in Nagano was the first and the best known and have been at if for nearly 15 years. The trails do show it being very...

Road trip to threadbo and beyond..

Beechworth is well worth checking out as well. Great trails at the Beechworth MTB Park and the Woolshed run which are all AM bike friendly. The Beechworth Brewery is then a great post ride stop for craft beer and woodfired pizza.

    carbon lefties, why so cheap

Soooo, are you saying all the major bike brands haven't made an exciting bike that lives up to their racing heritage since the late 80s?

    carbon lefties, why so cheap

In name only mate. Lancia haven't made Lancias since the the Delta and it only came in LHD.

    carbon lefties, why so cheap

Hahahahahahaha!!!! Truer words have never been spoken. If only Lancia was still around. Their last car was a leftie too.

    The gaming thread

Survival sends the stress levels through the roof. I'm still yet to make it through solo. I'm finding it worse than getting melted by 4x rogue groups. I'll have a few cracks, die heinously, then go snipeing bosses in the main game to feel good about myself again. PSN - adrianjd

Break out the refreshments ya poor bugger. Even here on Japan speeds it took 45mins to get it all sorted.

    The gaming thread

i picked up a PS4 in August to keep me sane while recovering from having both knees done. I was looking for COD Black Ops 3 but no one had it so I grabbed a copy of The Division on a whim. I've really been enjoying it and am still playing it. It's good to come home from a rough day in the...

    Enduro/Gravity trails queensland

Somewhere around Tanah Merah could be a good option. It'd be 45mins either way to work (Logan Motorway) or waves (M1), a little further for Burleigh/Kirra/D'bah I'd you're a demon for punishment. You'll also have the option of Daisy Hill close by for a quick trash and private DH options at a few...

    New DH bike

I know I'm a bit late to the party but after 2 seasons on a Demo carbon I wish I'd gone with an alloy NS Stab instead. Not that the Demo isn't great to ride, it is, but I only went with it because it was cheaper than the NS at the time. If, you were Joe Racer chasing every 100th/sec and had a...

    Ask an old fucker

Battle of the Planets was a huge one for me as well. Here in Japan it's called Gachyaman, a title as camp as the show. Japanese friends are as surprised as hell when I tell them I watched it as a kid. That and Monkey Magic.

Fulcrum Red Fire Wheels - Rim Replacement with something else?

I've got them on my DH bike and they are a very good wheel set. Dare I say as good as DeeMax:spy:. I'm running them tubeless with Magic Mary's and have had no problems at all. They are stiff, reasonably light, and strong and even after two seasons here in on Japan's bumpy, rooty trails no dents...

What bike does your partner ride?

My 161cm wife's trail bike is a M Myka FSR with a 50mm stem and 710 bars. She is very comfortable on it and doesn't get back pain. Her DH bike is a S Status with a 35mm stem and 750 bars. She's able to do long 6+km DH runs without back pain.

Demos and Saint - what are people using?

For the past two seasons I've been running Saint M825 cranks in my SWorks Demo with the SRAM PF-BSA adapters. Needless to say they are creaky and I'm constantly having to press them back in. I've been hunting around for something more substantial and am wondering what others are using? So far...
