I’d guess ‘blended earth’ became very important at Warburton because there is absolutely zero natural features.

@rowdyflat i have not looked at local prices but found some 11 speed Linkglide XT 8130 stuff on Ali. $313 + $40 postage for shifter, derailleur, cassette and chain. My first thought was it was not cheap enough but then I guess its pretty good for a drivetrain refresh and a little less ongoing...

I recently bought some 12sp XT stuff as well. Saved myself $100 over a $250 order, hard to argue with that.

Second/third/fourth something more XC than the Tempo. A modern XC bike will still be able to throw down but limiting your equipment could be a good way to protect yourself from yourself?

That one extra gear definitely causes more problems than solutions - 12sp is very precious
