Larger 20" wheels on the Touring up from 18" on the base model. It would be nice if you could option the smaller wheels on the touring but don't think that's possible.

Test drove a Tesla Model Y RWD, a Zeekr 7X RWD and the Subaru Trailseeker AWD today. Wow, all amazing cars. Tech was awesome in the Tesla and Zeekr but found I enjoyed the ride in the Subaru the most although to be fair it was the only one with AWD. It was pissing rain all day and the Subaru...

    Electric Vehicles etc

Thinks it's more about planning routes requiring charging stops. My mates Tesla will calculate and inform him how many charging stops he will need between destinations based on his current battery state of charge. It will advise him what charging stations are available enroute and how long he...

It has wireless AA and Carplay so presumably you can use a third party route planner that way. I have no experience with any of this as I have not had an EV yet. The reviewer is used to the Tesla software which he is comparing it to I guess.

Gotcha. The bloke in this review is 6ft and his while he seems happy with the rear head and leg room you can see quite the knees up posture you refer to - It's an interesting review, he loves the drive but shit cans the lack of route planning which seems a fair criticism in 2026.

    Maydena Bike Park

Each to their own I guess but labelling the place mundane, boring, lifeless and overhyped seems a touch over the top. I've been there a few times with my wife and the variety of well maintained trails suits us fine. A lot of friends travel there and love the place. Last year I rode there with a...

    Electric Vehicles etc

Had my eye on this as well until the price came out! Someone on a EV forum I read reckons they were told by their dealer that the price might change due to a lot of negative feedback. It's a great driving car by all accounts with heaps of space. Tech is below par but not everybody is bothered by...

    NZ - Queenstown

Hospital treatment is covered under a reciprocal agreement for Australians and any accidents are covered by ACC which can help with physios etc. Travel insurance might be beneficial for repatriation to Australia though. I never bother getting specific coverage for mountain biking or skiing when...

Not arsed drinking alcohol - An age thing?

23yrs working as a paramedic has highlighted the many down sides to alcohol consumption. There's the usual drunken falls, then the arguments and fights which often result in serious head injuries and also the huge increase in mental health calls which are often exacerbated by alcohol...

The election thread - Medicare Vs cost of living Vs OMG China! Vs housing Vs I'm not Trump! Vs prehistoric fish Vs nuclear energy Vs tariffs Vs AUKUS

Just finished reading "The Trading Game" by Gary Stevenson which led me to his youtube channel "Garys Economics". Very interesting read and he is now really pushing for a wealth tax in the UK and elsewhere. He's touring here next year to do some talks.

    Solar... who's clued in?

FYI for anyone considering solar batteries - https://www.solarquotes.com.au/blog/sigenergys-terminal-problem-burnt-plugs-throttled-inverters/ I installed this system in July and was really happy with it, no power bill at all for 2 months then the AC connector fried/melted/short circuited a...

    NZ MTB Trip

Cardrona is definitely worth a look. 2 chairlifts and some very spicy rocky trails. We drove up and rode the morning then I drove the car down and booked a midday shuttle to take me back up (that way only paid for 1 person). When we had enough we rode the Peak to Pub trail down to a cold beer in...

    NZ MTB Trip

Last trip over we joined the Queenstown Mountain Bike Club. $100 for 2 of us but we got our money back on the discounts offered plus you are supporting the locals. We might have timed it right but Cardrona had 50% off day passes and Glendhu were offering discounted shuttles. Don't think that is...

Essentially cataract surgery before getting cataracts. My vision was fine at 50 and I thought I would be an outlier not requiring glasses. Over the next 4 yrs the reading vision deteriorated and the ophthalmologist explained that I lasted that long due to having longer arms than the average...
