As Race Director this year, one of my jobs is to line up riders who don't have a 4WD with support crews...
Well, if I pass the medical this morning I'm back in for the 2013 version.
Funny thing is, I ran the 6 foot track this weekend and the downhills ate my quads.
I don't want the Doc to notice that I can't actually walk that well.

In 2012 I think I finally understand the Simpson Desert Challenge. It's not about the bikes, the tubeless conversions, the waxed chains...
I've said this before, the SDBC is a really about people, the whole crew, not just the riders. The challenge brings people together and brings out the best in them.
If we could spread "SDBC Spirit" around the world would be a better place.
A great event all round and a real pleasure racing with Lynton again.
Terry Flaskos took stage 9 and made over $14,000 for the RFDS!
Lou McLaren, 74 years young took the final stage. Despite all those years of experience he still suffered from a sore arse. Some things never change.
Fatbike Tubeless
A lot of people have asked how to make a Fatbike tubeless so Murray and I did this video.
Hopefully it helps.

The trouble with fat bikes is that they are only good on sand. Single purpose and all that.
Still, with no sand we got 1st, 3rd and 5th this year. (second and forth last year).
Yeap, a 16kg pug with wheels at over 3kg a pop won. Maybe the legs are important as well?
Do you have a sticky string sealing kit, George?

Won't help if you get one of those vampire stakes through the wheel but works on smaller stuff.
I'm trying Tungsten disulphide powder, currently added to commercial Purple Extreme lubricant. Friction is one thing but wear is another (though probably linked). It looks dirty but seems ok.
I don't know how to do an objective test to see if my chains last longer. Practically in muddy...
