I used a wrist guard (661) for a year after a wrist fracture. Didn't alter my riding at all, just took the pain out of my wrist. Don't need it any more, but now my knuckle hurts as I just got the splint off my new finger fracture.

Only time I had similar was in Canada when UPS would slap on brokerage, about $50. Bit different but still annoying. Tires must be used to hide drugs, I remember coming back from overseas with some new spares and customs were serious about looking at them.

Unless you REALLY need it, something like a dropper post will make much more difference to your ride than a crankset.

Sounds a bit crazy, does enough stick through for a small stem and no spacers or do you want loads of steerer poking out the headset?? If you weld it you'd have to clean up both the inner and outer pretty accurate, which could be tricky.
