How much of either is required to service the needs of the Australian market? I'll wager it's small enough to be financially unviable compared to bringing it back in from Europe or Asia.

We put our eucalyptus leaf fall (we don't have any deciduous trees) into either rounds made of fence netting or a one of a few dedicated compost bays. After a year and some occasional turning... excellent soil improver and not so much potential fire carrying leaf litter.
