    What's your chain cleaning routine?

I have digital calipers... anyone use thee for measuring chain wear or is a chain measuring thingy the way to go?

    What's your chain cleaning routine?

Yes, was looking at a chain cleaner. I tend to wash the bikes and reapply lube every ride or three. Could easily fit the chain cleaner into that routine. I've been removing the chain and cassette roughly every 6 months (maybe 40-50 rides) and deep cleaning with de-greaser and solvent.

    What's your chain cleaning routine?

And then? Surely you don;t have the chain off etc after every ride?

    What's your chain cleaning routine?

Historically, when I commuted a bit, I used a general oil based chain lube, topped it up every month or so and cleaned the chain and casette (not very well) every few months. Good enough. Having recently started MTB I started using a wax (Zefal Extra Dry). That works fine but does not last and...

Dropper post. OneUp vs Brand X vs X-Fusion

Thanks. Bike currently has a cam style seat post collar. Worth changing to a non cam style? I plan on buying a torque wrench. As for ‘spec’. Specialised don’t seem to publish torque specs, not that I can find. Anyway, not too worried.., needs to be just tight enough not to fall down right...

Dropper post. OneUp vs Brand X vs X-Fusion

Well I have the 150mm OneUp on the way. A little concerned about some of the comments relating to the post clamp affecting the movement of the post. Surely the post sits in a sheath that is strong enough to not allow pressure to affect the actual post?

Spray.Bike - Paint my bike advice!

Yeah, I’m familiar with paint stripper. My thinking was, if the frame is completely smooth and free of decals then stripping the paint would be a waste of time. The current paint is already well adhered to the frame, sanded and it is effectively an undercoat in itself. Stripping the frame...

Spray.Bike - Paint my bike advice!

I purchased a Specialized Rockhopper Expert beginning of last year. It was supposed to be a Specialized Epic Evo Comp (I had on lay-by) but COVID closed my business so I used what I'd already paid to get into something! I'm slowly upgrading it. First was pedals, then grips and a dropper post on...

Dropper post. OneUp vs Brand X vs X-Fusion

Well this was a b'day present for me from my wife... looks like I'm too late as she has already made a purchase.. my first option which was the OneUp 150mm with an ethirteen vario lever. All I'll need is a cable and I've read that not all cables are equal. True? Looking at some of the above...

Dropper post. OneUp vs Brand X vs X-Fusion

Thanks guys, Based on the above comments I think I'll go with the X-Fusion Manic. At least I have cross-compatible parts with my son's bike. I've also got first-hand experience with the post and know that it does go up and down nicely. I don't think I'm going to hugely miss that 25mm and it will...

Dropper post. OneUp vs Brand X vs X-Fusion

Hi All, looking to upgrade my seat post to a dropper post. Am at the lower to mid end of pricing. I have internal routing on my Specialized Rockhopper. X Fusion Manic - my son has this post on his Rocky Mountain hardtail and not had any issues with it, although he’s only 10. Comes with a cable...

    MTB Etiquette

First post...be kind. I recently bought my 9 yr old son a mountain bike which he spends just about every spare moment on. Last week some friends took him to Lysterfield which he loved. He wants to get out and about more on some trails so he has persuaded me to buy a bike which I'm picking up...
