I thought it may be the case.I believe the pull ratios are too different.
Look, all good. Looking at a kids bike that needs some repairs. I had it in my head that up to 11sp the pull ratios were the same, but not 11sp so I though I's check.. I'll actually price up going 9sp WR cassette with a 10sp derailleur which I know will work.I believe the same. @The Duckmeister will confirm.
Can’t advise on the pull ratios of a SRAM 11sp derailleur though. It’s been discussed, but I forget the outcome.
Goatlink not enough?

The new M5120 seems a better option (https://www.tbe.com.au/products/shimano-deore-rdm5120-rear-deraille/473114/ ) - says 10 and 11spd compatible.. Seems to indicate that the RD pull is the same with the only change being the shifter pull...Cheaper option would be the m6000 10 sp derailleur.
