2009 Peugeot Partner 1.6 Diesel Van

anyhoo - as for the Pug Partner van, beware the diesel will cost a bit more to run. There are more filters and if injectors or pumps go it can get exxy fast (as for any modern diesel).

Petrol will be way cheaper..
Can’t fault ours on that.
Pretty big car, and 900km out of 60ish litre tank was common.
No issues with injectors, pump or filters.
Power and comfort was good.
Just the other parts were the issue.

They do better with a country life, get to warm up properly.

This will do long country Kms. My work round trip is 60km a day. Diesel suits me better than petrol. I know they're more expensive to service but I like the torque. I'm now looking at something a little larger. A Peugeot Expert L2. Still a diesel but at least this one has a service history :) But I will look at sourcing the parts myself if my mechanic's prices are crazy.

In that case cross shop with Transit and Traffic and iload . Renault diesels are well proven (avoid the mechanised manual “auto” transmission though) dunno about the others.. iLoad is live axle rear drive though that is a thing for some people.

I just can't find anything with low enough Kms within my price range. Most of the iloads, transits etc in Brisbane have 250K+ on them for my budget. This has only 116k on it. Yes, it's an 2010 but I'd rather buy something with lower kms?

Yeah you get better value with the less we’ll known option - half the reason I’ve always driven French cars ;)

Peugeot commercial stuff is decent, they’re built to deal with tough lives like anything else. Catch as always is Aussie mechanics not knowing what they’re doing with them, but find one with a good attitude and find the parts (or at least point him at the French specialist parts importers in Melbourne) and you’ll be fine

From reading this and my experience with our Citroen and Mum Peugeot you have to be prepared to have the car off the road for at least a week if anything needs repairing potentially longer. They were ok cars but to get things fixed for a reasonable cost it can take considerable time (have to factor in all the calling around chasing parts and time online) which you should factor in when talking about pros and cons.

. They screw as they retract. I did try, (I insisted after wife showed me quote, and I’d sourced $90 pads from the UK) specific tool required. Paid my local mechanic to fit.
I too f&^%'d this up -my wife wound them back in about 3minutes, both of us belong in the F$wits/almost pro mechanic/stupid questions threads
PS im copying & pasting this thread to show to said wife..she already has a poor opinion of mtb'ers [doesn't like short me either]

getting them fixed in the country [60km's from Melb] is a PITA. -I use Carl at York st in Sth Melb -he's a straight shooter, & always criticizes me for driving a male hairdresser's car [also told me on more than 1 occasion to stop buying European -makes no sense in the country he says]

I always drove European in the country, but I turn my own spanners.

Mechanics in the country might be fine, it’s just a matter of finding one with the right attitude if they’re not familiar with Pugs. They’re not tricky cars, but like any brand have their own quirks.

I find them fine and get driven nuts by the dumb arse ways Japanese cars are made (negative switched headlight circuits on Toyotas wtf...?), so it’s just what you’re used to...

Kangoo Maxi worth pointing out - long wheel base but less unwieldy perhaps than the Partner/transit style vans.
I looked at them too. Only 2 available. 1 was out of my budget and the other had done another 40K for the same price as the Expert I'm looking at.

Yep, looking forward to the freedom! Checked out all of QLD at my budget available on the net and this is the best I've found... course, the day we buy will be the day the perfect van comes up!
