Suggestions for KOB

I am in Sydney and will not be able to attend the meeting tonight. However here are a few ideas/suggestions for KOB:
Article in The Courier on the Saturday of KOB to promote event and encourage spectator attendance.
Article in The Courier on the following Monday or Tuesday giving the results of each category.
A podium of sorts to encourage the three podium riders to STAY when they receive their prize so as to be properly acknowledged and enable a photo/photos to be taken.
Some type of momento (trophy/certificate?) for podium riders in each category for every round, not just series overall.
The podium riders be handed the microphone. This is essential to acknowledge any sponsors and other thank yous.
A Grade prizes should not be the same as other grades (maybe monetary consideration). We need to have some incentive to encourage riders to ride "up a grade". No sandbagging.
Maybe consider inviting another food option like a school, kindergarten, Apex club etc, which will bring a new group of people to Downhill and over time potentially help to grow membership.
I suspect the local council contribute in some way to funding for road cycling events in Ballarat. So have we asked them to support KOB? We had over 100 competitors (plus their friends and family members) at Round 2 and our event helped to boost Ballarat tourism that weekend with riders travelling to attend.
Is it possible to seed say the top 5 in each category with appropriate number plates? We have done it before and it is definitely an incentive for riders.

Club MUD. also agrees with much of what has been suggested by paf, the club has been discussing some of these suggestions already. We had a very positive & constructive club meeting last Thursday night & bought up paf's suggestions, I have also PM'd paf letting him know where the club is at & what points in his post have been taken on board. Round 3 will see a podium & the prizes (sponsorship) have been addressed, there was a small misscommunication with our sponsor that has been fixed. With regards to more catering, we as a club are going to stick with the club's BBQ as this is how KOB & Club MUD makes it's money, all moneys raised by this go back into the club, the tracks & KOB. Adding another entitiy into the equation would be detrimental to the event, the coffee van has been added as we believe that there was a need for this service & the club also gets a % amount from any sales from the coffee van. As Club MUD has undergone a complete new management change, it has been a very steep learning curve for all involved. We appreciate all the feedback we have received, it shows that we as a club are heading in the right direction.

Thanks guys!

Regards

Here is a video of the new lower section for Black Hill KOB Round 3 downhill track, this will make for some spectacular finishing runs to wrap up the 2010 KOB series. There are both A & B lines for this new section, If you plan on riding the new track make sure you walk it first as there have been & will be some fairly substancial changes made...

KOB Round 3 this Sunday 28th August.

Final track work has been carried out over the weekend, local riders have been riding it in all weekend & response has been good! Looks like it's going to be a great final to the KOB series...
All we need now is for Ballarat to provide us with some great weather!

Agreed! The track is probably the funnest of them so far. It's going to make for a good day of racing. Can't wait!

Nice work on the article in the local paper today. Should be great exposure for round 3 and will hopefully bring some extra spectators along (although I reckon it should have made the back page instead of putting those footy boofheads on the back page yet again!)
