One final thing for next years competitors - bike prep.

• Put new pads in your brakes - a fresh set should last you the week. even i came home with some meat left on the pads.
• Check your rotors. fresh ones won't hurt. mine is now fully heat treated.
• Get your suspension serviced or do it yourself. It will get pounded over the week - for me it was 6 months worth of work in 6 days.
• Put a tough tyre casing on the rear. The tyre below is 10 days old. It is a double down aggressor. Front still has the mold nibs on the side.

Ultimately your bike needs to survive the first two days until you get to Queenstown and can sort out some repairs or hire a bike. A bloke this year snapped the rear triangle of his Slash at the Christchurch bike park on the Friday and had to hire a bike to complete the event. The event team returned it to Christchurch for him after the event
