4wd up Beerburrum Dh track. (Hennesey's)

heyhey, was up at beerburum (Hennesy's) last sunday and got stopped by some bloke two turns before the rock garden, lucky he did cause there was a jeep parked in the middle of the track. behind him where six more trying to get up the rock garden. Now Im usually a pretty reasonable man....but I let them have it. 7 runs gets the blood flowin. Then they had the nerve to call me a fckwit and abuse me. On the way back to the top they were trying to guide another one through the rock garden. idiots. I got their rego numbers and club details as they drove past. The woman who was in charge of the group was wearin a Southeast qld 4wd club shirt.
So I called Pete the trail builder and he`s reported it. Council are doing what they can... including dealing with club and drivers and hopefully more signage. Its a bit of a painfull process but the best thing if you see any motos or 4wds that have no respect is get thier rego and call council on 5475 7272. They will log it and if they can see how much of a problem it is maybe will get some more help?
I can understand a moto wanting to have a poke down there, most have the respect to stay off when they realise its a bike track, but a 4wd come on....how stupid can these people be, especially when representing their club.
 
Jeezus, they have miles and miles of track in that forest, we have <2km.

Should let them know how much damage they would do. Advise them that if they don't respect our trails we may have to reciprocate a lack of respect for theirs.
 
its lucky there where only two of us there or else there would have been a serious injury and a riot probably. I cant believe how ignorant those people where. Frustrating when all you can really do is call council. hopefully their club will have something to say about it.
 
That is an F'ing joke! where do all these prics get off!!! We have the shortest little track thats had sh*t load of work put into it and these tools on motos and in 4WDs cant let it be! Cops n council should be involved, council spent money on having that track made, motorised bikes and cars damage it - technically its vandalism - fines should be applicable. This is so far out of line, I spent a day working on that rock garden and those faggets drive a car up it. If I ever see a car or a moto on that track again they'll get the biggest rock I can find hurled at them. There needs to be respect among these sports, everyone enjoys being out on tracks in the bush and there should be a mutual understanding.. but obviously these prics all think they're a cut above. They need to be taught a lesson.
 
The best way to approach this is to say with a smile and without aggression something like this -

You don't know this is a specialy made downhill track do you? Then educate by explaining that this track has had 100's of man-hours put into it and is managed by a Club and the local council. Races are held on it and many riders ride it. Motos and 4x4s can damage the track and make it dangerous for unsuspecting riders. Then the clincher - the council have asked us to take down number plates. Then say - we'd really appreciate if you didn't drive on it!

It mightn't work every time but we come out the loser if motos and 4x4s decide to wreck parts of the track.
 
I think people also need to understand is that riders safety is also a BIG factor in all this. A rider could so easily get injured on that track by having 4wd's and moto's on it. These people don't seem to care about the track OR peoples safety. Downhill is a high risk sport but having the addition of cars and moto's just around the next corner is something else. Something should be done soon before someone really gets injured!
 
deadman... i started by asking if they didnt see the signs... they said that there where no signs. I then said its a council authorised track and that yes there was a lot of work done to get it and have it looking like this... they didnt care at all. then when I said I was going to contact council, they abused and I returned it. Hate to sound like a hippie but violence and aggression is not the way to win the war. I just wasnt gona take their abuse though. It seem pointless but the only real way to deal with it is through council.
Maybe they can give us a few more tracks that arent gona be in place where moto and 4wds can access as easily? heres hoping.

And most of us have cameras built into out phones these days, if u have it on u, whip it out and take some pics or vids. Bit of evidence never goes astray.
 
i think if i was to see them on the rock garden on the way back to the top for my first run,. hurl into the rock garden at full speed and smash into them. im sure a nice civin court case would stop them from doing it.

blergh where the fuck has common curtosy gone and where the fuck is common sense... now i dont like to stereo type but why is it that all 4wd type ppl seem to be fucking bogans? half of them look like they are straigt off the set of swamp ppl...

This is all well & good but it shouldn't be primarily be our responsibility to educate them, I doubt they will even listen. 9/10 times they'll take it as a confrontation & retaliate with aggression. It's in the councils best interest to have ample signage to educate them, whatever it costs. Thousands of dollars & man hours have gone into this trail & now that it's legal it's stupid not to have big new signs & gates (whatever it takes) educating the local 4WD'rs & moto riders. Signs that can't be removed or damaged. If it's left up to downhillers to deter these wrong-doers, eventually there will be blood spilt & that's not in anyones best interests.
 
education is the key and im a 4x4 owner and like going 4x4.They too have to same problems with track availability and hopefully (4wds)
will understand and respect mtb trials.Why not put signs up in designated areas to make ppl aware of the trail.All the hard work and
money spent on a trail deserves signs to educate the public , sure they might get vandalised but so can the trail
 
Hey guys, the council is getting on to it.
They are going to contact the people involved and let them know it is illegal to drive in that area, and they can be fined.
They are also going to put up some more signs, and some big rock bollards.

On another note, the council parks and gardens guys aren't super keen for the track to be there.
It is all official and part of the rec. plan so it is not going anywhere.
But we need to write letters to the council, to let them know how much we appreciate the place, and how much use it is getting.
We need to do this as there is another track in the planning stages!!
The more support Beerburrum gets the better the chances of getting another Sunshine Coast DH facility.

Can everyone please take their rubbish with them, Council hates the rubbish.

I would be interested to know if the 4wds did any damage to the rock garden, the council would try and charge them for repairs.

this is great news! can we have a hyperlink to email them on or an address etc to ensure we get the correct council.. also with the rubbish, is it possible to either have some bins put in maybe one at the top and one at the bottom? if not maybe just a lil sign for the silly ones saying to please take rubbish with you and use bins at beerburrum township?

trailworx...thanks for all your hard work with council mate! its really appreciated. was very pleased to see council are going to look into it. Trying to spread the word about the track, so we can get as much support as possible. A contact e-mail for council would be good so we can let them know how happy we are about the track. A little appreciation could go a very long way.
 
they must have known the track was a mountain bike track if they were on it.

no one drives 2+ 4w4s up a track without know where it goes or whats on it.

throw the book at them and invoice the club for damages.


more than likely they were the arseholes of the club and the rest are reasonable people.
 
Very Disappointing considering how many places 4x4 can go and how little places our MTB's are legally allowed. At the end of the day I think people are starting to respect eachother less and less, I personally think this is because Australia as a country is way over policed, people then get frustrated and take their thrills when the can.

I guess you don't live in QLD right? There is no where within a 1.5hr drive of the CBD that you can legaly take a 4wd. Beerburrum happens to be possibly the closest that is legal but it has conditions. And as user groups we are all known to openly flout these laws. There are many illegal DH tracks in SEQ. And more poping up every day.

Up untill very recently this too was an illegal track. And everyone including Moto's and 4wd's knew this. How are they to know things have changed without being educated.

Like I said in the Moto thread if there are currently no signs (Which it sounds like right now there are non as they have gone missing) or not enough signage then we are fighting a loosing battle. The worst thing you can do is get on the wrong side of them. One sign at the bottom and top of this track is not enough. It just has too many entry points that they would never actually see the signs before getting on the track. And to be honost most 4wds probable look at the track and think it is a Moto track built by kids.

Just remember you piss either of these groups off and it will take them minutes to do damage that will take weeks and many $ to repair.

For the record im heavily involved in the 4wd industry.(I own the largest 4wd forum in Australia) Im not defending them in any way. But I also know from being involved in DH as well that not many 4wders have any understanding of what goes into DHing or even know it exsists.

There are also dickheads in all these user groups including DH that just can't use common sence and want to f@#k it up for everyone.
