I have done a search and nothing really answers my question.
I want to upgrade my forks (Marzocchi All Mountain 4) to 66's. My question is will my frame 07 Norco Six 2 take an increased fork travel, therefore more head angle?
I am after a pair of 07' 66 forks in white to go with a theme for my bike but want anyone who has done something similar to give their advise. The frame has 165mm travel and the stock forks 160mm. Will 180mm be too much???

no you cant have 66s on a norco 6 it will open the gates of hell if you do.

Why where you going for longer travel if your going to do bigger drops and such but your frame might not like that style of riding.

i personally think that 66s will be too much travel and affect the geo too much.

Do it, i'm sure it'll be fine. Doesn't Ben Boyko have one with 66's on?

Might be wise to pm sutek or derek yates just to be sure, but i'm sure there'll be no issue.

I'd love a pair of 66's on mine (07 six 1), but the new 55's look pretty schmick as well. Looks like TBSM have '07 66 RC2Xs for $900 which is very tempting, or you can get a pair of new 55 ATA2's for a bit less and be able to adjust the height as well and still have 35mm stanchions

Last time i was in the shop as well they had 08 55R's for $449, not sure if they still have them kicking around, the R's only have rebound adjustment and that's it really

i have an ironhorse SGS expert it came with 90-130 mm sherman flicks and i have thrown 08 66's on it and its sweet i dont know your specific situation but for me it worked sweet the sgs team cam with sherman 170mm and pro with sherman 150's so if theres bikes in the same line as yours that have same frame and bigger shocks im sure it'll be alright otherwise its more just chancing it, and besides ive found at a beginner kind of level geo dont mean that much, hope that helps (by the way the 08 66 rcv are unreal:) )

66's on a Six

I'm usually pretty cautious about this sort of thing but I know for a fact that 170mm 66's are not a problem on the Six Frames. Most of the Norco Team riders are running that setup without an issue. Obviously you need to keep in mind it's a 6" freeride bike not a DH racer or an Ultra Huck machine but beyond that you should be sweet!

The Six is a very versatile bike and can be buit light (See the Six SE!) or burly and ride a wide variety of terrain and riding styles.

Cheers,

Derek

Thanks for that Derek.
The stock forks tend to bottom out on occassions and are 30mm staunchions.
I was thinking about either 160-170mm 66's with 32mm or 170-180mm with 36mm. Undecided at the moment but am after a white bottom fork if I can. Another fork I have read about is RS Domain's which are adjustable from 140-180mm. Not sure about these as they are not used as widely. I don't have a huge budget so am not looking to pay $1000+ on Fox 36's.
Anyway thanks for the advise

66 SLs appear in the 'for sale' section frequently. White lowers and they have adjustable travel (140-180mm I think) so you can lower them if the setup feels wrong at full length.
