70's-80's Frank Paino road bike

It's been a long wait but one I've been very patient about. I've yet to polish all the parts in any case but I've just got my frame back from Peter at Star Enamellers. Peter also confirmed for me that the tubing was Columbus SLX , frame and fork as well.

Still spinning out that he's the man who painted this very frame in the 80's and now he's painted it again. :)

Some more new goodies.

I scored this amazing NOS set of Dia-Compe Aero Gran Compe brake levers off eBay for my whiteout Paino road bike for $50. What a steal! They even come with plastic cable guides which will hopefully = better braking).

I've steered clear from proper track pedals as even my flat pedals dig into my shoes so instead I've gone for super comfy MKS pedals made for wearing with sneakers.

I couldn't resist buying a pair Adidas Samba's. Flat, comfy, stiff sole and they should fit into the toe clips and pedals easy too.

Justin if your reading this: its an awsome bike keep on riding it, but the lack of WC paint or stickers is disappointing.

hi justin,

i was planning on buying that bike, but you beat me to it...

very very happy to see that you've restored it and not fixie-fied it. my jealousy has been put on hold a little bit seeing what you've done. but i am still jealous.

and good tip on the paint shop in bankstown. i've got a kenevans pursuit track frame that may well be in need of the touch of a master craftsman.

Haha good stuff man. I've got everything ready to go but I just need to get that headset back on there (I want new bearings).

I've been busy working on another retro project though. Can't be bothered starting a new thread on it, but I found this at the markets for $45:

And I've just turned it into this:

With Black.

With Red.

I love it, and no, I'll not ride it (except in the house that is!).

Love the Kuwahara, the red tuffs are over the top, badly OTT.

Looks like the roadie is coming into its own, lovely work aside for the aforementioned 'steady handed' (haha) lug detailing.

Finally got around to building the ghost bike. I'm not 100% done, but it's almost there. Just some dodgey pics for now:

I'm thinking about black tyres, saddle and some other coloured grip tape too. Maybe later, just going to ride it for now!!!

Nice justin. Mine came in at exactly 10kgs with pedals and bottle cage. But really, just join a regular ride and get some kms down. Easily done 300kms on my bike so far and loving every minute.

Further: white + chain flapping everywhere = not white for long ;).

Nice job.

Nice Ben!!! I love it! So clean (but would'nt be that clean once you ride it that's for sure).

I've since put the black tyres back on the bike. I might even put black grips and levers back on too. She wasn't happy being "modernised" with those trendy white tyres and she was screaming to just be her old self again. :)

Here's the latest pic:
