A question of supply and demand...

As a few of you will have read I'm in the market for a new helmet.

Now, thanks to my fathers wierd ass genes I have an odd shaped head and need something like a Specialized M1.

thus creating the demand.

I am therefore searching for someone to make up for the supply part of the equation. Quite simply a shop to sell me one, and do so tomorrow.

In order for said demand to be supplied the following requirements must be met.

1) Must stock Specialized helmets.
2) Must be open on a Wednesday around lunchtime.
3) Must be close to the city (Melbourne).

Can anyone point me in the right direction? I've already found that Fitzroy Cycles have Specialized lids but they only stock the Enduro which is the bottom of the range.

anyone?

patience my friend. whislt us humble bike shop employees would like to be able to give you everything yesterday, it's impossible to carry all stock. You know the helmet you want, I suggest you support your favourite shop and get them to order it for you. Weeks wait maximum, in turn, the boss will get richer, give the staff a pay rise, they'll be happier and next time they'll get you anything you want.

PS Let your fingers do the walking, its easier

Great in theory, and I'd love to support my fave shop (and usually do to the tune of a couple of hundred every couple of weeks), but they only stock Limar helmets and can't get specialized in. Limar don't make a helmet that will fit me.

That and my bike is my substitute for a car, riding an average of 50 k's per day atm, so can't do without a helmet.

Just be thankful you've only got a strange shaped head, not something that's so damn big it won't fit into the majority of XL helmets on the market.

Same deal for me dude, except my head is normal width and big front to back, so helmets need to be long. hence the Limars not fitting because they're too round.

stoopid paternal genes!

I'm in an XL Exodus, and it's alright. Bell's aren't much good for me, wrong shape unfortunately. With half shell I'm alright, but I've been looking into full face lids and it's there that things start to become difficult.

Haros making a roomy fullface for 04 cheap too. Distributors are bringing in med and few large. Talk to a repco pacific brands dealer and get them to snap you up a large

Doh. I go back to netti AXN bit more pricey, but she fits. I got a big head too. As if you didn't figuire that out yet

They just don't make helmets the right shape do they wombat?

cheers for the advice Slash.

Will see if I can find somewhere I can get to with Netti's. I know a Giro would fit too but no one is stocking them atm for obvious reasons.

As for the seat post issue I'll be looking into that on the weekend. It's rideable at the moment, just gotta keep adjusting it. Moves very slowly. There's no way a bigger one would fit, it's an even tighter fit than the Zoom post I had in there. I think once I turn the clamp around and clean all the grease off it should be ok.

When I was at the show I thought I'd try on the Netti's just to see, and guess what  Also tried the 661, no luck there either. I'll keep on looking...

Hampton bikes have specialised lids, dont think their hampton store has any in stock atm.
their store near richmond station (total rush) has more lids, again, not sure what models but i know they have sepcialised. Total rush is a matter of minute from richmond station, walk down the ramp, turn left (you should walk under a bridge) and just keep walking up. from memory its number 119 or 191, its on the left if ur walkin away from the station

there're heaps of shops in the city to try out.....

Sorted... I no longer have to wear my snowboarding helmet to ride with. :D

The specialized ones fit but too big?!?!?!

Ended up finding one of last years' Limar helmets that does the job nicely.
