I purchased this bike from @Plankosaurus last month and have ridden it a few times. It jumps and goes downhill well and is very fun. I currently have it set in 180 front and 160 rear with the rear wheel in the short position.

light enough to jump provided you have enough speed, she's never going to get a KOM on a climb :p

Beast of a thing though, glad its not going to waste any more!

So, I took it up to Waverley again today and on the 3rd run down this happened

The carbon outer cage seems to have disintegrated.
I also managed to twist the chain, bend the cassette and pulled the threads out of the hanger

Now I need to figure out if I should go for a 9 speed saint or straight for ss

Well that really sucks. Do you use much of the gear range when riding this? If not...single speed!

Oh, I see now

What size is that cassette? That derailleur would have had a limit to how big a cog you can use and might have got itself twisted up if it was too big.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't learn that lesson first hand mine was an alloy cage though so took it like a champ instead of kersploding.

11-36 which is the recommended maximum
It was in gear 7 out of 10 at the time

So I finally got around to ordering a hanger. Cost me $63 in the end :(. I’m thinking I might sell the frame and get something that I can get hangers for in Australia.

To be fair, most people don't go through hangers like you do

Could be worthwhile investing in a CNC router so you can make your own?

Yeah that is a kick in nut sack.
Cost me over $200 to change the tracer to 142 dropouts, and had to get each side from a different place and hope they matched (because there is different sizes for different wheelsizes)

...now I'm thinking I'm the one that needs a CNC router

Surprised you don't have one already

Are you hangers breaking from being ridden hard though? or from cartwheeling down the track?
