Adjustable Seat Posts

My reverb has just stopped working, I'll give it a bleed and see how it goes but, is there an adjustable seat post that just has 2 positions?
All the way up and all the way down?

I don't need anything in between, it's either up or down.
The old Fox Doss had 3 positions. The trend is that manufacturers are making unlimited position droppers. Not sure if anyone makes a fixed position dropper anymore.

Gravity Dropper and Fox have three positions- Up, down an inch or fully down. Or get one with a short drop and have it up or down....... thats two positions. I run a 100mm Lev and run it up or down- easy

Cool, thanks..
I'll have a look at GD and Fox.
I think it's stupid to have infinite adjustment through the range of travel but I guess that's just me and the marketing departments know better :)
If my reverb is rooted I'll open it and see how it works and if it can be modded for what I want.

I used to think 3 fixed drop levels was the shit but then I went infinite and wouldn't ever go back...

You can also use the rockshox clamp to set the max height drop. I got one with a reverb but never is used it.

put the bike up on the stand to bleed the post and after sitting for a week the bloody thing works.. I'm still going to look around for another post but if this gets me through falls creek this weekend I'll be happy.

Can anyone recommend a quality dropper in the 125mm/150mm range that has an under seat lever? (30.9mm post size)

I used to have a KS LEV which stupidly, I sold. It was great and I'm looking to replace it now.
But I realise I never really needed the lever on the bars. It's on my enduro/freeride bike and I really only used it to pop the seat up quickly for a climb or all the way down when I got to the top. Coupled with the older style cable routing on the bike, I think I'd rather get one with an under seat lever this time around. I know there are the KS eTen, but they are only 100mm drop.

Bought a cheapo dropper (Tranzx)for my hardtail and it's been a case of you get what you pay for. I'm an average mechanic but normally get the job done but could I get the cable tension sorted on this thing. It's sensitive to say the least. It was sagging and not returning to full height . Anyway had a brain wave and got a spring from a Biro pen and put it in the trigger mechanism. Seems to work on a trip around the block. Will test properly on Friday at the you Yangs

Where to order Reverb?

Have a Yeti SB66 and after riding a friends bike back in the UK which had a Rock Shox Evo dropper post - loved it and really want one.

After asking a few trusted friends who work at bike shops, they highly recommend I get the Rock Shox Reverb or the Specialised Command.

However, struggling to find them for order on the sites I usually frequent (ChainReaction, Wiggle, Evans) - can anyone recommend a good distributor/site to order either of these from? Leaning towards the Reverb at the moment, just because I have already tried it out.

I also dont think that my Yeti SB66 allows for internal routing of the cable, so assume I would need to run the cable external.

Think you'll find Rockshox has geo blocked overseas sites selling us stuff. There has been various mention of it on this site. Sucks but at least we can buy other brands. Have you tried bike-discount.de or bike-components.de. There is a work around regarding chain reaction but you may have to pay more by pretending to be British but it might be easier to buy here. Have you tried Pushys.com.au or mountainbikesdirect.com.au they offer good prices on lots of their products

That makes sense, as I saw it coming up in Google results, but then not appearing when hitting the sources. I am dual citizen of UK, so any info on the workaround?
  1. What are the runner up brands that compare to RockShox?
  2. Assume the price markup in local bike shops for RockShox is a fair jump?

I will take a look at those other links, thanks!

I've got two options for you. 1. Try bike24 - I just bought a new reverb from there and somehow got around he geo block. 2. Send me a PM about my used reverb that I can offer you cheap (it's a long story s to why I have a new one...)

I also ride a SB66 and you are right about it not allowing internal routing. My old one is a 125mm drop external routed version.

Thanks, just trying to make sure I know which one I need to be ordering.

I think this one
RockShox Reverb B1 Vario Seat Post MMX 2017

  • Avoid stealth, as ill need to route cable externally
  • 30.9mm for my Yeti SB66
  • Im 6ft1, and like to drop the seat real low for decent - think I need the longest length with most travel?

I want the lever to be on the left hand side, under the handlebar. Therefore I think I am right to order the:
30.9 mm - 390 mm - 125 mm - top right / left below

So what's the current consensus on the most reliable dropper? Are the KS Integra's the current hotness? I was considering a Thomson, but they aren't user serviceable which I'm not too keen on.
Who is the best person (not MyMountain) to speak to about a KS in Melbourne?

Fire off a PM to Nerf Herder. He's the dood that imports them. He will happily answer all your questions and point you to the closest friendly retailer.

I've got a Fox Transfer too. Pretty happy so far; there's a tiny amount of side to side play on the saddle, not noticeable while riding but slightly annoying when manouevereing the bike by hand.

My old Specialised Command post didn't do that.
