All my Aliexpress MTB purchases reviewed.

I know it gets asked often, so apologies. Who are the reputable sellers for Shimano, in particular, M8200 cassettes?

I recently purchased a heap of stuff from our Chinese overlords and the thing that got cancelled due to shipping issues was a stainless steel bbq cleaner, WTF?
Other things I've got recently:
$10 spoke tension meter, not exactly a high tech bit of gear but probably more repeatable results than me tweaking the spokes with my fingers and tightening them randomly

$6 spoke screwdriver. Not a bargain but better than my flat head screw driver which I'd attacked with a grinder to make the correct shape

$3 headset bearings are good, lets see how long they last

I run the Pro branded rotors on all my bikes and they're usually great. These are shit, don't get them. When they arrived I noticed they're for resin pads only, unsurpringly that's correct and Race Matrix pads have made a mess of them and the brake feel is like the old cable disk brakes from the old days

These are indistinguishable from the real ones

This hasn't arrived yet but since I can't find a good wheel guy anymore I've decided to do it myself. In typical Dunning Kruger style I figure that I know something about wheels so should be able to build them. Keep an eye out for my posts in the fuck wits thread.....

I'm also tempted to build a set of wheels with these Koozer 650 hubs, cheap enough and they don't look terrible.
FWIW, I am still riding these ARC MT-009 hubs (been on 2 rim sets).

A quick degrease and regrease of the pawls every now and then and they have been faultless.

Thanks for the tip mate, there are so many hubs on there I'm paralyzed by indecision at the moment.
These are the current front runners in my non decision making process however 9xpawls is 9x the risk of failure plus there must be more drag? With an asymmetric rim they give equal spoke lengths which I liek from a simplicity point of view

I was also looking at these i9 rip offs

And also these

I have a friend who is a high level racer and bike mechanic with a passion for wheelbuilding, he has used the Koozer hubs and Goldix hubs without any issues.
The money saving far outweighs any difference in quality

Haha I just realised I didn't link to the hubs 🤦‍♂️

Post has been edited with the link.

Aren't the Goldix hubs the same as Spank Hex hubs?

This really piques my interest.. anyone taken a gamble with one? I really like the look of the *ahem* original but the price puts it well in the "Meh, too expensive to just try" category.

Yeah when cheap alloy snaps and the seat post has nowhere else to go you’ll be regretting your life’s choices. That’s a hard no from me.

I saw another major seat manufacter came out with a simlar thing . I thought it was a good idea until I saw the price Something like $800.

I think Isaakk should be the butt tester.;)

The wheel building stand thing turned up today, it took about a month longer than usual. I'm yet to use it but it's remarkably well made and I'm surprised it doesn't have any massive short comings when considering the very modest price.
I got the full baller model with the dial indicators for rims and rotors and while I won't be doing cam timing with the dial indicators they're fine for wheels.
I've probably got another 200km left in my rear tyre before I need to change it so I'll true the rear wheel when I change the tyre

These held up really well on the hardtail until I landed on a rock. My fault but I'm sure the outcome would have been similar on any other rim. Exploring replacement options with the store at the moment.

What the dial indicator graduations in?
