Any running the new Easton arc rims or heist wheelset?

Thinking of replacing my old stans flows with some of the new Easton 27mm or 30mm 29er rims laced to hope hubs. Or even just saving a little coin and weight and getting some heist wheels.

Anyone running them? Thoughts?

I've got some on the way from CRC for my new hardtail build. 30mm arc's on Hopes in 29er guise. Will let you know how they go. My main rigs on 35mm internal Zelvy carbons so it'll be interesting to compare the rides

I'm looking to build that exact same setup, keen to hear your thoughts.

Me too ;) love to hear your thoughts when they arrive.

Was thinking of going the heist wheelset also to save a little coin and weight over the hopes. The new Easton hubs are a bit of an unknown though.

The new Easton hubs are a bit of an unknown though.

One review on CRC (for Heist wheels) says they engage every 17 degrees (that is 21poe) and that is marginally better than old Shimanos and DT's. Kinda slow.

Far from Hope (40poe), Shimano XTR (36), new DT (36) and others.

Heist wheelset is also 28 spoke, Arc rims are 32.

Whilst on the topic, Wiggle have Hope hub sets for $303 at the moment. Just bought some and will probably pickup some Arc 30's soon.

Was around 800 for the wheelsets on Hopes. I wanted to go hope hubs for a few reasons. One is that all my other wheelsets are on Hope hubs and they've been flawless. The Easton hubs are a bit unknown and have a bad recent history on reliability and of course the measly points on engagement compared to the Hopes. Was hoping they rocked up today as it's the last piece in the puzzle on my new HT build but I haven't heard any news from the missus at home.

Have only had one ride so far, so not much to report! They don't feel flexy and plenty of grip with a 2.4 Ardent out front and a 2.35 Ikon out back. Hopefully a longer ride this weekend to get a better feel.

Haven't felt much difference from my Zelvys yet. But I haven't thrown these through rock gardens yet, only my local trail which is fairy well groomed apart from some small rooty sections. Once I hit some fast berms and rock gardens I should know. The only problem with that theory is that when riding those trails I'll probably be on my Riot with carbon wheels lol. For science I should put these on my Riot for a test.

That would be great.... I am currently tossing up carbon or arcs for my steel hardtail.... Get scientific I say....

Swapped the rotors over and ran them today on my Canfield Riot. Trails where pretty much all natural with some rutted out sections and a few berms strewn about.

To be honest there's not much difference between the two. Normal riding? You couldn't tell. Start hitting those really rutted sections hard and the carbon wheels seem to hold their line better (less pinging off things?). The biggest difference came in fast bermed corners, where you could feel some compliance in the rear wheel when cornering hard. Note that I'm on a 29er so they are going to be more prone to lateral movement than the smaller wheel sizes.

Overall I don't think the carbon hoops are worth double the cost. If I smashed an alloy rim? 100 bucks and a re-lace. My Zelvys have crash replacement warranty so it wouldn't be crazy expensive but once warranty had run out it'd be a different story. End of the day, the carbon wheels are better, but as with everything, it has a price premium.

Happy with my Arc 30s

Slider_phil... Cheers for that, mate. Awesome. Can you please expand your thoughts on the hubs compared to the Hopes? Early to tell on reliability maybe but what about the rest?

Thanks!
