You see. They are guna bann RC'd materiel which pretty much the whole internet. And are you also a member of family first?. lol.

It's good that there banning kiddie porn sites. but they were guuna take it as to block gambling sites and porn sites which are not illegal its only illegal to the government because it is RC'd and thus comes under the filtering scheme. and they mentioned other illegal sites which have not being clarified as to what those sites are about. I think the government should focus on actually running the country.

Jus' saying- There is no such thing as a kiddie porn website. It's more than likely a set-up if there was one. It's P2P, VPNs and e-mails where it happens.

Murrum, that's part of why it's so stupid. It's wasting money on doing absolutely nothing. It stops no-body getting kid pr0nz and doesn't do anything to stop the guys making it.

Does anyone else wonder if this is a smokescreen to cover up something else that the Government are pushing through under the table? Realistically if 95% of the population are against it, and politics ultimately is a popularity contest, then the Government must know it could well be an election losing strategy. Or, even worse, are our elected representatives simply too dumb to realise that what they are trying to impose on us is simply not going to do what it is supposed to do and that it will actually cause more harm than good?

Australia is nowhere near as "free" a society as we believe we are. I have been trying to dig up articles I read before I came here that had evidence that Australians were the most spied upon citizens by their own government in the Western World, this was 10 years ago and it has gotten worse since then.

Are you sure that's the list is it that the older one that was "supposedly" not a leaked gov't list, but a list from a private web censoring company like netnanny?

I came across it and yes it is an older one that was leaked. I'll get you the link where I found it.

I am asuming that would be the optional filter as not everyhing there is illegal just not a common kiddies favourite list.
 
That list is the "leaked" list from earlier this year, it's such a massive load of BS. I wouldn't worry about deleting the link the Government doesn't care because the list is a dud. Sites that appear on the real blacklist are there because they have been subject to complaints or investigations by ACMA.

This won't happen, it has been tried in other countries and has never been successful, it is just to easy to circumvent.
