Awaba XC Build Day This Sunday 5th June

For anyone wanting to get muddy without riding this Sunday we will continue building the main XC loop, meeting in the Car Park from 7am.
With only around 1.5 k left to build on this Main loop this section should be finished with 2 build days.
Bring your Mattock or shovel and plenty of Aeroguard to feed the leaches.
Please note dont try and drive in from Becks Rd onto Jenkins Rd as it has had a State Forest Dozer through recently and is virtually impassable.

We had a small but ambitious group turn up for the build day on Sunday. The recent road “repairs” by State Forest combined with heavy rain made it difficult just to walk the road beyond the bottom of the down hill track through to where we were working. However, we managed to put in a bit effort and finally finished off the Main Loop of the track! This is a big achievement for the club and everyone who has been involved deserves congratulations!

The new section of track, which is now open, starts up near the top of The Flush (the fast down hill bit that starts after Camel Back and after you cross back over the fire road). Instead of heading down the Flush, turn left and head up the fire road for about 50 metres, then turn right into the new bit of track. There’s a good length of single track which includes some fast down hill bits and some nice recovery sections that will bring you back out onto the Flush. The start is well marked so it’s not hard to find on the red loop.

Like all new trail, it needs to be ridden to bed it all in – so get out there and ride it!

That's a good enough excuse to sneak away from work this arvo......

Congratulations HMBA. It is a massive effort to finally finish the last little bit of trail.

What does that leave us with in terms of distance for the red loop? I'm thinking about numbers of laps in the upcoming XC round.
