AM Banshee Titan

Hey mate 172cm here, and my arms aren't particularly long for my height either.

Whether the Medium will fit you depends not only on the reach, but also the stack height, and how you're going to configure the bike.

I'm assuming you will set it up as a mullet? Also will you run a 170 or 160 fork?

The Banshee mullet charts assume a 160 fork, so if you go a 170 fork for example, that might help by shortening the reach by around 4mm. The stack height and head tube length on these are pretty generous. Unless you are riding steeps all the time, you may end up running minimal spacers and a 20mm (or less) rise bar. It's not the kind of frame to run lots of spacers just to bring the bars closer to you.

The titan has long chainstays, so if you run a 32mm stem then you will need to ride aggressively over the bars to get good grip out of the front tyre and stop it from lifting on climbs.

Compared to other modern enduro frames, I'd say the reach on the Titan is a bit shorter than average. Some people do go a size up on the Titan and just go super short stem with the saddle forward a bit more. (Dave Rulezman for example).

Another thing to consider is the seatpost insertion depth is not the best on this frame, so for your height it is likely you will only get 150mm drop and that is using a really low stack post like a Oneup V3.

Ultimately you can make this bike fit so long as you are clear what kind of bike you want... it is not going to be a super response whippy playful thing. Where it will shine is its high stiffness, and stability at high speeds.
Thanks mate. I emailed Keith Scott and he also reckons I can make it work with a mullet setup. Pretty much echoing what you said above. I'll probably have to go 150mm dropper or less, but that's what most of my bikes run anyway.

Another option he put out was I could mullet my rune. But then I like the way it rides as it is. Plus mine is already quite cramped, mulleting it will just makes it even worse.

Now to look for a medium titan at a reasonable price..

Think I need to see the new before I buy the old.

Have you seen any Titans on deep discount though?
They've been pushing 30% off rrp for a while. If you 3 get together for a group buy likely even better. Also there's an off menu option to get the frame with no shock which i saved another $600 at the time which was a great deduction.

As for the new Titan it sounds like still be quite some time away. Based on Keith's comments elsewhere I'm gonna speculate on changes they are likely to include:

Better seatpost insertion

Still no UDH, unless they shorten the chainstays by around 5mm to create clearance. Keith has been against UDH and the release of Shimano wireless probably makes his view an even more likely design choice.

Rather than just make the reach longer, have a +/- 10mm flip chip reach adjust headset.

Either more progression in the suspension or a flip chip to adjust end stroke progressivity.

XXL frame size.

Better chainstay rubber protection.

External brake hose routing option.

If most of those features dont matter to you then probably worth just going with the current model.

No shock would be ideal as want to run coil

Seat post insertion is a bit of a blocker for me so could be worth waiting. I’m 193cm and currently running a 240mm OneUp

UDH doesn’t matter to me but the dropouts seem to need a bit of refresh. I’m a Shimano fanboi anyways.

The reach is a tad tad short that if had adjustable that would beat a longer stem

Can’t comment on progression!

And 160-165mm would be ideal but not a deal breaker. Currently on 170/170 but happy to pare it back a notch for the right bike.

None of those new features matter much to me, except perhaps seatpost insertion. But I like the shorter reach of the current large, and if the price is right I can live with a slightly shorter dropper. Wouldn’t want a shock either. I’m keen

bulk buy for burners then? maybe we can get discounts if we get 3 from a dealer. I got my rune from rushys in qld. he was really good.

Rushys got back to me. He hasn't got any in stock unfortunately. He also said banshee probably have no more stocks of the titan either - but will double check for me. @mittagongben your old stock in the US might be the only ones left. happy to take the convo offline if you prefer.

I'm also out for now. Rushy did say there will be a v4 coming, but maybe in 1.5 years time. In the mean time, there is unlikely to be another production for the titan.
